Job Summary: Supervises employees engaged in daily physician practice operations for the purpose of facilitating effective daily practice operations and delivery of quality patient care in accordance with all applicable regulatory, state and federal guidelines. Other contributing factors may be the nature of the specialty, the geographic proximity to the corporate office or the volume of business or work at the practice site. Directly supervises other registered nurses or operations which have complex safety requirements.
Minimum Education: Has completed the prescribed curricula of a practical nursing program or has completed equivalent coursework or has completed the prescribed curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or certificate therefrom.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Valid multi-state or state of Oklahoma Licensed Practical Nurse License or Registered Nurse License. Current CPR Certification.
Work Experience: 5 years of related experience including 3 years of experience at the supervisory level.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of physician practice management.
- Knowledge of basic fiscal management and human resource management practices.
- Must utilize effective interpersonal, written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work and direct others accordingly.
- Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numeric data.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Supervises the daily operations of the physician practice clinical operations.
- Serves as a role model and mentor to all staff.
- Proficiently uses IDX and other computer applications to achieve optimum patient care efficiencies.
- Provides appropriate clinical information, advice and oversight to individuals engaged in physician practice clinical operations and ensures proper maintenance of patient exam rooms, clinical instrumentation and medical equipment.
- Communicates and administers policies and procedures regarding the daily operations at the medical practice site.
- Appropriately communicates and seeks counsel with the Clinic Manager and other resources regarding operational issues.
- Aids in recruitment, orientation, counseling, and evaluation of a team of engaged employees to assure quality patient care.
- Maintains exemplary patient satisfaction and serves as key individual on site to resolve patient concerns.
- Seeks to encourage increased knowledge of team members and perform other duties as required.
- Serves as a liaison for patients, government agencies and third-party payors for the purpose of providing an on-site contact for individual practice sites.
- Serves as a liaison between administration, physicians, and staff.
- Assists in the monitoring of the practice site revenue generation and expense allocations.
- Problem solves deficiencies in reaching stated goals.
- Assures staff knowledge and compliance with current Health System, Warren Clinic, HIPAA and OSHA policies and procedures.
- Leads quality initiatives and safety functions.
- Leads activities to promote employee engagement.
Decision Making: The carrying out of non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from supervisor.
Working Relationship:
- Direct supervision of others.
- Prepares and gives performance evaluations.
- Works directly with patients and/or customers.
- Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
- Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
- Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
