Location: Occupational Health, Dover
Status: Full Time 80 Hours
Shift: Day/ Evening
SALARY RANGE: 17.40 - 26.10 HOURLY
General Summary:
The Patient Care Technician 1 (PCT 1) position is responsible for a wide variety of technical and clerical procedures. PCT 1 has frequent direct patient contact when performing phlebotomy, specimen collection and specimen transport. Utilizes computers for patients specimen ordering, accessioning and general data entry.
Responsibilities:

Independently performs and documents all tasks and procedures including phlebotomy, specimen collection, waived testing and processing of specimens according to established policies and protocols while maintaining accuracy in all job functions.

Verifies the identity of patient/specimen, accurately enters data and completes all required documentation. Identifies, investigates, and communicates appropriately all unusual/unexpected results or situations. Consults appropriate personnel regarding all difficulties, technical questions or unresolved problems.

Registers/schedules patients and tests.

Performs all tasks, procedures, and documentation within established standards for timeliness without reminder. Follows through on all outstanding tests, procedures, assignments, or tasks and reports any incomplete assignments to ensure work is completed without interruption of service.

Demonstrates and maintains proficiency on all computer software and systems.

Ensures all Infection Prevention / Safety protocols are followed at all times, disinfects work areas prior to end of each shift.

Assists coworkers at all times with any difficult procedures/problems, including heavy workload.

Maintains adequate supplies according to established PAR levels for department. Replaces all supplies used during the shift to assure volumes are sufficient for the following shift. Recognizes low inventory situations and alerts appropriate personnel for re-order in a timely manner.

Completes QA, QC and PI, as needed.

Distributes patient results, as needed.

Demonstrates competency in completing a Safety variance.

All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

For Occupational Health: Performs Vital signs, Evaluations, Diagnostic, and technical procedures according to established policies and procedures.

For Occupational Health: Assists with nursing functions under the supervision of the nursing staff and Providers.

For Occupational Health: Assures that all medical information and patient interaction is documented in the patient’s chart along with medications, allergies and medical history.

For Occupational Health: Performs onsite services when requested with the onsite medical surveillance unit.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
- Education: Certificate Program, High School Diploma or GED; Phlebotomy or Certificate Program in EKG, Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or Nursing Assistant. Or 5 years of phlebotomy experience.
- Credential(s): Basic Life Support (BLS) or ability to complete on-site (BLS) training
- Experience: Training in Phlebotomy.
