Occupational Therapist Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a occupational therapist job in Columbus?
Columbus hires occupational therapists most heavily in hospital systems, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, and Columbus City Schools, so targeting those employer types gives you the strongest foothold. The Medical Center District and east-side rehabilitation networks are especially active. Candidates with pediatric, hand therapy, or neurological rehabilitation experience stand out locally, and familiarity with community-based programs tied to Columbus's expanding senior-care network adds a competitive edge.
Which companies hire occupational therapists in Columbus?
Companies currently hiring occupational therapists in Columbus include The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Trinity Health, and Ohio Health Rehabilitation Hospital, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Columbus's employer mix reflects its size as Ohio's capital, with large academic medical systems, regional hospital networks, and a growing number of outpatient and home-health agencies all maintaining steady occupational therapist headcount.
Are there remote occupational therapist jobs in Columbus?
Yes, though remote work is limited for most occupational therapists because the role is inherently hands-on and client-facing. About 20% of occupational therapist openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. The roles most likely to offer remote or telehealth components in Columbus are evaluations, consultations, and certain school-based administrative functions rather than direct treatment sessions.
How can I get a occupational therapist job in Columbus with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbus is through fieldwork placements and clinical rotations at the city's large hospital systems and outpatient clinics, which regularly convert students into new graduates. Columbus City Schools and early-intervention programs are known to hire entry-level occupational therapists, and home-health agencies in the metro area frequently recruit new graduates willing to build a caseload. Completing a rotation in Columbus and networking with supervisors directly is the strongest local advantage.
