How do I get a operating room technician job in San Diego?
The strongest path is targeting San Diego's large hospital systems in Hillcrest and Mission Valley, along with the growing cluster of ambulatory surgery centers and orthopedic specialty clinics in Kearny Mesa and Scripps Ranch. Candidates with experience in high-volume specialties like orthopedics, neurosurgery, or cardiovascular procedures have a clear edge in this market. Holding CST certification through the NBSTSA strengthens your application at most San Diego facilities.
Which companies hire operating room technicians in San Diego?

San Diego's hiring mix is broad, with large academic medical centers, regional hospital networks, and independent surgical specialty practices all actively recruiting.
Are there remote operating room technician jobs in San Diego?
Remote work is rare for operating room technicians because the role requires hands-on, sterile-field presence in an OR. About 0% of operating room technician openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve surgical scheduling coordination, sterile processing oversight, or clinical education roles rather than direct scrub duties.
How can I get a operating room technician job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is applying for surgical technologist internship programs or OR technician trainee roles at the city's larger hospital systems, which periodically hire candidates who hold a completed surgical technology program certificate. Ambulatory surgery centers in Kearny Mesa and Sorrento Valley are also known to consider new graduates for lower-acuity cases. Volunteering or completing a clinical rotation at a San Diego facility before applying builds a direct local connection that frequently leads to a hire.
