The compensation target for this role is: $76,500 - $90,000
Job Summary
Purple is seeking an Amazon Supply Chain & Inventory Manager to own end-to-end Amazon marketplace inventory operations as we scale our presence on the platform. This role is directly accountable for FBA replenishment planning, demand forecasting, in-stock rate performance, and out-of-stock risk mitigation across Purple’s mattress and pillow assortment. Reporting to the Director of Marketplaces with a strong dotted line to Logistics and Supply Chain, this person serves as the critical bridge between Purple’s internal operations and Amazon’s fulfilment network.
Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Amazon Inventory & Replenishment Management
- Own FBA replenishment planning end-to-end, including shipment creation, inbound routing, and fulfilment center placement, while monitoring daily in-stock rates by ASIN and proactively resolving out-of-stock risks before they impact sales.
- Manage Amazon storage limits, IPI score health, and stranded inventory to optimize FBA capacity and avoid long-term storage fees; determine and maintain appropriate safety stock levels by SKU based on lead times, sales velocity, and seasonal demand patterns.
- Evaluate FBA vs. FBM/Seller-Fulfilled Prime decisions for oversized and non-standard SKUs (critical for Purple's mattress catalog).
Demand Planning & Forecasting
- Build and maintain ASIN-level demand forecasts using Amazon sales data, seasonality trends, promotional calendars, and new product launch timelines.
- Translate Amazon demand signals into actionable replenishment and production requests for the internal supply chain and logistics teams.
Supply Chain Coordination (Dotted Line to Logistics & Supply Chain)
- Serve as the primary Amazon inventory liaison to Purple's Logistics and Supply Chain team — communicating reorder triggers and urgency levels proactively, escalating supply constraints before they become OOS events, and ensuring inbound lead times are accurately reflected in replenishment planning.
- Coordinate inbound shipment timelines from Purple's DCs or 3PLs to Amazon FCs and maintain and update lead time assumptions by SKU and route as supplier or logistics conditions change.
Reporting & Analytics
- Build and maintain dashboards tracking key Amazon inventory KPIs: in-stock rate, weeks of cover, restock lag, OOS frequency, and sell-through rate and provide weekly inventory health reporting.
- Manage FBA reimbursement of reconciliation for lost, damaged, or miscounted inventory.
- Identify systemic inventory risks and present data-backed recommendations to improve replenishment processes.
Voice of Customer & NCX Monitoring
- Monitor ASIN-level NCX scores and customer return reason data in Seller Central, identifying ASINs approaching Amazon's defect thresholds and escalating to eCommerce and Product teams before account health action is triggered.
- Distinguish preference/expectation-based return drivers from product defect signals, maintain a running NCX risk tracker, and include findings in weekly inventory health reporting to eCommerce and Supply Chain leadership.
Required Skills, Education, Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Operations, or a related field; equivalent work experience considered.
- 3–5 years of experience in Amazon Seller Central operations, eCommerce inventory management, or supply chain planning.
- Demonstrated experience managing FBA replenishment, restock limits, and IPI score optimization in a 3P Seller Central environment.
- Experience with oversized or bulky FBA categories (furniture, bedding, or similar) strongly preferred.
- Background working cross-functionally with logistics, warehousing, or 3PL teams to execute inventory plans.
- Experience building demand forecasts at the SKU or ASIN level using sales data and market signals.
Skills & Competencies
- Deep fluency in Amazon Seller Central: shipment workflows, restock recommendations, inventory performance tools, and FBA fee structures.
- Strong analytical skills; comfortable building and maintaining inventory models in Excel or Google Sheets. Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Looker, or similar) is a plus.
- Understanding safety stock and lead time modeling concepts, including how to account for variability in supplier and carrier performance.
- Ability to translate inventory data into clear, urgent, and actionable communication for cross-functional partners in supply chain and logistics.
- Familiarity with inventory planning tools (e.g., Inventory Lab, SPS Commerce, Cin7, NetSuite, or similar) is a plus.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple SKUs and fulfillment scenarios simultaneously.
- Self-directed and proactive — this role requires owning problems and driving solutions without waiting to be asked.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding OPT Sponsorship in Amazon Web Services Aws
Confirm your role qualifies for STEM OPT
AWS positions in software engineering, data science, and cloud architecture typically qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. Verify your CIP code matches your job duties before accepting an offer to protect your extension eligibility.
Apply before your OPT start date
AWS hiring timelines can run 8 to 12 weeks from application to offer. Start applying at least three months before your current authorization expires to avoid working under an expired EAD while waiting on paperwork.
Target AWS teams with E-Verify enrollment
STEM OPT extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Amazon and AWS are enrolled, but confirm the specific legal entity on your offer letter matches the enrolled entity your DSO uses for your I-983 training plan.
Prepare your I-983 training plan early
AWS will need to complete your I-983 before your STEM extension is approved. Bring a draft to your onboarding meeting that maps your specific AWS role duties to your degree program's learning objectives to speed up the process.
Understand AWS's H-1B sponsorship track record
AWS files thousands of H-1B visa petitions annually, making it one of the most active sponsors for OPT holders transitioning to long-term status. Ask your recruiter about team-level sponsorship timelines during the offer negotiation stage.
Track your 90-day unemployment limit carefully
Any gap between AWS roles or between OPT approval and your start date counts against your 90-day unemployment cap. Keep your DSO updated on start dates, role changes, and any delays to avoid unintentional status violations.
Amazon Web Services Aws OPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Can I work at Amazon Web Services on OPT?
Yes. AWS roles in software engineering, cloud architecture, data science, and related technical fields are eligible for both standard 12-month OPT and the 24-month STEM OPT extension if your degree qualifies. AWS is enrolled in E-Verify, which is required for the STEM extension. Confirm your specific CIP code and job duties align with your degree field before your DSO files the extension.
Does AWS sponsor H-1B visas for OPT employees?
AWS is one of the largest H-1B sponsors in the United States and regularly files petitions for OPT employees transitioning to long-term status. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and depends on your team, role, and performance, but AWS has a well-established process. Ask about team-level sponsorship norms during your offer discussions, and use Migrate Mate to find AWS roles that are actively hiring OPT candidates.
What AWS job titles qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
Software development engineers, solutions architects, data engineers, machine learning scientists, security engineers, and cloud support engineers are among the roles that commonly qualify. The key requirement is that your job duties connect directly to a STEM-designated degree field. Review your CIP code with your DSO and compare it against your AWS job description before applying for the extension.
How does the I-983 training plan work for an AWS role?
Your I-983 is a formal document your employer co-signs that describes how your AWS role provides practical training related to your degree program. AWS HR or your direct manager will typically complete the employer sections. Bring a draft to onboarding that maps your specific duties to your degree's learning objectives. Your DSO submits it to SEVIS as part of your STEM OPT extension application.
What should I do if my AWS start date is delayed?
Contact your DSO immediately if your AWS start date changes. Any period where you are not employed and not in a grace period counts toward your 90-day OPT unemployment cap. If the delay pushes your start past your EAD expiration, you may need to request a cap-gap extension or explore other authorization options. Do not wait until the last minute to report changes to your DSO.
