INTRODUCTION
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Cardiology seeks candidates to join the faculty of our stable and thriving Division of Pediatric Cardiology. As a joint cooperative of Children’s of Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, we are leaders in comprehensive pediatric and adult congenital cardiac care for the people of Alabama and the Southeast United States.
The selected candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, cardiac intensivists, anesthesiologists, cardiac surgeons, and specialized nursing professionals to advance clinical, research, and educational activities focused on improving outcomes for children with congenital and acquired heart disease.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Faculty responsibilities will include contributing to research initiatives, scholarly activities, and interdisciplinary collaboration within the UAB Pediatric Heart Center. Opportunities exist to engage in clinical research programs, mentoring trainees and staff, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, and supporting the Department’s educational mission within the UAB Heersink School of Medicine.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- MD, DO, or PhD
- A demonstrated record of scholarship relevant to pediatric cardiovascular care, nursing science, or patient outcomes research.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in collaborative clinical or translational research is preferred. Excellent communication, teamwork, and teaching skills are essential. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated interest or experience in scholarly activity, clinical outcomes research, and multidisciplinary program development.
