Mid Level Pediatric Surgeon Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level pediatric surgeon job?
Position your experience around clinical ownership and independent judgment. Highlight complex cases you managed end to end, procedures you performed without direct supervision, and any teaching or mentorship responsibilities. Tailor your application materials to show depth in a pediatric surgical subspecialty, strong outcomes data, and a history of collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, since hiring teams at this level expect candidates who operate with minimal hand-holding.
Which companies hire mid level pediatric surgeons?
Companies hiring mid level pediatric surgeons right now include Houston Methodist, University of Florida, and Baylor Scott & White Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from academic medical centers, large children's hospital systems, and multi-site pediatric specialty groups that need surgeons who can carry a full caseload and contribute to program development.
Are there remote mid level pediatric surgeon jobs?
Yes, though the role is primarily procedural and clinical, so fully remote positions are limited. About 4% of mid level pediatric surgeon openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those roles typically involve telehealth consultations, preoperative or postoperative care coordination, or administrative and educational responsibilities alongside on-site surgical duties.
How do I move up to a mid level pediatric surgeon role?
The path from early-career to mid level is built on demonstrated clinical independence. Focus on expanding your case complexity, seeking out procedures you haven't yet led solo, and taking on formal teaching responsibilities with residents or fellows. Surgeons who move up fastest tend to document measurable outcomes, earn subspecialty credentialing, and build a reputation for sound judgment in high-stakes situations without requiring constant attending supervision.
Which industries hire the most mid level pediatric surgeons?
Mid Level pediatric surgeon roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate high-volume surgical programs that depend on experienced surgeons who can work independently, sustain complex caseloads, and contribute to institutional quality and training initiatives.
