Senior Level Pediatric Surgeon Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level pediatric surgeon job?
Employers at this level look for surgeons who have demonstrated independent clinical judgment on high-acuity pediatric cases, built or led a subspecialty program, and mentored residents or fellows. Board certification and a record of complex operative experience are expected baselines. What sets candidates apart is the ability to show ownership of outcomes, not just participation in them.
Which companies hire senior level pediatric surgeons?
Companies hiring senior level pediatric surgeons right now include University of Colorado, Seattle Children's, and University of Kentucky, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes primarily from children's hospitals, academic medical centers, and large integrated health systems that run high-volume pediatric surgical programs.
Are there remote senior level pediatric surgeon jobs?
Yes, though most roles in this specialty are on-site given the hands-on nature of surgical practice. About 0% of senior level pediatric surgeon openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve telehealth consultations, program leadership, or quality and utilization advisory roles rather than direct operative work.
What makes a pediatric surgeon role senior level?
Senior level pediatric surgeon roles are defined by independent ownership of a surgical service or subspecialty, responsibility for complex and rare case types, and an active role in shaping clinical protocols. Surgeons at this stage are expected to mentor trainees, contribute to institutional decision-making, and lead quality improvement initiatives rather than operating solely under attending supervision.
Which industries hire the most senior level pediatric surgeons?
Senior Level pediatric surgeon roles concentrate in Education and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring because they operate the high-volume, subspecialty-capable programs that require surgeons with the depth and leadership experience that senior roles demand.
