Mid Level Physical Therapist Assistant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level physical therapist assistant job?
Lead your application with clinical ownership: document patient populations you managed independently, conditions you treated without close supervision, and protocols you helped refine. Highlight any cross-functional work with physical therapists on plan-of-care decisions and any mentoring of aides or newer assistants. A concise resume that shows expanding responsibility rather than just task lists is what moves mid level candidates to the top of the shortlist.
Which companies hire mid level physical therapist assistants?
Companies hiring mid level physical therapist assistants right now include Northwell Health, Rehab Without Walls, and University Hospitals, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from outpatient clinics, rehabilitation hospital networks, home health agencies, and long-term care groups that need clinicians who can carry a full caseload without constant oversight.
Are there remote mid level physical therapist assistant jobs?
Yes, though most roles are still facility-based given the hands-on nature of physical therapy. About 0% of mid level physical therapist assistant openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve telehealth follow-ups, care coordination, or utilization review rather than direct treatment. In-person clinic and hospital roles remain the clear majority at this experience level.
How do I move up to a mid level physical therapist assistant role?
The path from entry level to mid level centers on building independent clinical judgment over several years. That means progressing from closely supervised caseloads to managing a full patient schedule on your own, developing competence with a broader range of diagnoses, and taking on informal leadership like training aides or orienting newer assistants. Documenting measurable outcomes, such as functional improvement rates or reduced escalation to the supervising physical therapist, makes the case for promotion concrete.
Which industries hire the most mid level physical therapist assistants?
Mid Level physical therapist assistant roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services and Hospitality & Tourism, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive demand at the mid level because they rely on experienced assistants who can manage complex patient populations, maintain productivity targets, and operate with limited therapist supervision across high patient volumes.
