Physical Therapy Assistant Jobs in Alaska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a physical therapy assistant in Alaska?
To become a physical therapy assistant in Alaska, you must earn an associate degree from a Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education accredited program, pass the National Physical Therapy Examination for PTAs, and obtain a license from the Alaska Board of Physical Therapy. The Board requires an application, verification of your exam score, and a background check before issuing your license, which must be renewed on a biennial basis to remain active.
Which companies hire physical therapy assistants in Alaska?
Alaska physical therapy assistant roles are posted by Centennial Post Acute, Summit Physical Therapy, and Tanana Chiefs Conference and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Major health systems anchored in Anchorage and regional hospitals serving smaller communities across the state are among the most consistent sources of full-time openings.
Which Alaska cities have the most physical therapy assistant jobs?
Anchorage, Homer, and Bethel have the most physical therapy assistant openings in Alaska. Anchorage drives the majority of listings as the state's largest population center and home to its biggest hospital systems and outpatient networks, while Fairbanks and Juneau generate steady demand through their regional medical centers and the communities those facilities serve.
Are there remote physical therapy assistant jobs in Alaska?
Yes, but they're rare. Physical therapy assisting is a hands-on clinical role, so the large majority of positions require an in-person presence with patients. About 0% of physical therapy assistant openings tied to Alaska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those postings generally involve documentation review, telehealth care coordination, or supervisory support rather than direct patient treatment.
How can I get hired as a physical therapy assistant in Alaska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for new-graduate or clinical rotation to hire positions at Alaska's large health systems, particularly Providence Alaska Medical Center and Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, which regularly bring on candidates completing their first clinical hours. Working as a physical therapy aide or rehabilitation technician in an outpatient clinic first gives you direct exposure and makes your application stronger. Holding a current Alaska PTA license before you apply is the single biggest differentiator for competitive entry-level openings.
Where can I find and apply to physical therapy assistant jobs in Alaska?
You can find and apply to physical therapy assistant jobs in Alaska on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search through the roles posted, identify the ones that match your license status, experience level, and preferred location, and apply directly to the positions that fit.
