Nurse Manager Jobs in Alaska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nurse manager in Alaska?
To become a nurse manager in Alaska, you must first hold an active registered nurse license issued by the Alaska Board of Nursing, which requires passing the NCLEX-RN exam. Most Alaska employers require a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at minimum, with many preferring a Master of Science in Nursing for management roles. Candidates typically need several years of clinical bedside experience before moving into a supervisory or charge nurse role that leads toward a nurse manager position.
Which companies hire nurse managers in Alaska?
Alaska nurse manager roles are posted by SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium, Providence, and Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Alaska's hiring is anchored by large regional health systems, tribal health organizations, and critical access hospitals that serve both urban centers and rural communities.
Which Alaska cities have the most nurse manager jobs?
Anchorage, Juneau, and Sitka have the most nurse manager openings in Alaska. Anchorage accounts for the largest share because it is home to the state's major hospital systems and specialty medical centers, while Fairbanks and Juneau generate openings through regional medical centers and state government health services that serve populations in those parts of the state.
Are there remote nurse manager jobs in Alaska?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of nurse manager openings tied to Alaska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the hands-on leadership nature of the role. The portions of nurse manager work most suited to remote arrangements are administrative duties such as scheduling, policy review, and staff performance documentation rather than direct unit oversight.
How can I get hired as a nurse manager in Alaska with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a charge nurse role first, which large Alaska employers like Providence Alaska Medical Center and Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium use as a direct pipeline for nurse managers. Applying to new graduate residency programs at major Anchorage or Fairbanks hospitals builds the acute care foundation that Alaska hiring managers require. Lateral moves from roles such as clinical educator, staffing coordinator, or quality improvement nurse also open the door, particularly when paired with a current Alaska RN license and progress toward a BSN or MSN.
Where can I find and apply to nurse manager jobs in Alaska?
You can find and apply to nurse manager jobs in Alaska on Migrate Mate, which lists current Alaska openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to each position that fits.
