Entry Level Physician Assistant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level physician assistant job?
Focus on highlighting your clinical rotation experience, any supervised practice hours, and the specialties you rotated through. Entry level employers look for candidates who can demonstrate hands-on patient care exposure, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn within a supervising physician structure. Tailoring your application to the specific setting, whether primary care, urgent care, or a hospital system, gives you a meaningful edge at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level physician assistants?
Companies hiring entry level physician assistants right now include Optum, University of Maryland Medical System, and Signify Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. At this level, hiring covers large hospital systems, multispecialty group practices, urgent care networks, and federally qualified health centers that build their teams by bringing on new graduates and training them within established clinical protocols.
Are there remote entry level physician assistant jobs?
Yes, though most physician assistant roles require in-person patient care. About 13% of entry level physician assistant openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with remote positions tending to concentrate in telehealth platforms and care coordination roles that do not require direct hands-on examination.
Are these new grad physician assistant jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior physician assistant roles. A posting is typically new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts supervised clinical rotation hours toward qualifications, or accepts a strong internship background in place of post-certification work history. Look for language like 'new graduates encouraged to apply' or 'will train the right candidate.'
Which industries hire the most entry level physician assistants?
Entry level physician assistant roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Insurance, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive entry level hiring because they operate at high patient volume, rely on physician assistant extenders to scale care delivery, and have structured onboarding programs that support clinicians who are early in their careers.
