Point Of Care Testing Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a point of care testing in Ohio?
Most Ohio employers require a clinical laboratory credential such as the Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology, or an equivalent credential from the American Medical Technologists. Ohio does not issue a separate state license specifically for point of care testing coordinators, but facilities operating under CLIA must demonstrate staff competency. A two- or four-year degree in clinical laboratory science, medical laboratory technology, or a health science field is the standard educational entry point.
Which companies hire point of care testings in Ohio?
Ohio point of care testing roles are posted by PAM Health, Hiretech, and TriHealth and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Ohio's concentration of large integrated health systems and academic medical centers means ongoing demand across both urban campuses and affiliated outpatient sites throughout the state.
Which Ohio cities have the most point of care testing jobs?
South Point, Dayton, and Norwalk have the most point of care testing openings in Ohio right now. Columbus drives the highest volume because of its density of hospital campuses, outpatient clinics, and corporate healthcare headquarters, while Cleveland and Cincinnati anchor their surrounding regions through major academic medical centers and affiliated community sites that routinely post these roles.
Are there remote point of care testing jobs in Ohio?
Yes, but they're rare. Point of care testing work is fundamentally hands-on, involving instrument operation, staff training, and in-person quality control at clinical sites. About 100% of point of care testing openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to be in program coordination, policy development, or regional oversight roles rather than direct bench or bedside work.
How can I get hired as a point of care testing in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a phlebotomy or medical assistant role at an Ohio hospital or urgent care network, where staff routinely perform waived point of care tests and build direct device experience. Systems such as OhioHealth and Cleveland Clinic run structured new-graduate laboratory programs that include point of care rotations. Earning a CLIA-aligned competency certificate or an entry-level ASCP certification before applying gives candidates a measurable edge when competing for coordinator or technician openings in Ohio.
Where can I find and apply to point of care testing jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to point of care testing jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings from employers hiring right now. Search the listings, find roles that match your credentials and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
