Portfolio Analyst Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a portfolio analyst in Georgia?
Most portfolio analyst roles in Georgia require a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related quantitative field. Georgia does not issue a state-specific license for portfolio analysts, but employers strongly favor candidates pursuing or holding the CFA designation from the CFA Institute. Entry into Atlanta-area asset managers or insurance firms typically follows completing relevant coursework, internships with Georgia-based financial institutions, and passing at least the CFA Level I exam.
How much do portfolio analysts make in Georgia?
Portfolio analysts in Georgia earn a median of about $99,420 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $66,140 for the lowest 10% to over $167,700 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire portfolio analysts in Georgia?
Employers hiring portfolio analysts in Georgia right now include Houlihan Lokey, BDO, and OnTrac, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's concentration of insurance carriers, regional banks, and independent asset managers in the Atlanta metro means hiring is distributed across both large institutions and boutique investment firms.
Which Georgia cities have the most portfolio analyst jobs?
Atlanta, Doraville, and Alpharetta account for the most portfolio analyst openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates because it serves as the corporate headquarters for major asset managers, insurance carriers, and financial services firms, while Alpharetta's dense concentration of financial technology companies and back-office operations and Savannah's growing professional services sector contribute meaningful additional volume.
Are there remote portfolio analyst jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than many financial roles, since portfolio analysis is largely desk-based and data-driven. About 67% of portfolio analyst openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the analytical and reporting nature of the work. Performance reporting, risk modeling, and quantitative analysis tasks translate most cleanly to remote arrangements, while client-facing or trading-support roles tend to remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a portfolio analyst in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for investment operations associate or junior analyst roles at Atlanta-based asset managers and insurance firms such as Invesco or Aflac, which run structured analyst development programs for recent graduates. Lateral moves from accounting, financial planning, or data analyst positions are common entry points. Completing the CFA Level I exam and building a sample portfolio with documented performance analysis gives candidates without direct experience a meaningful edge in Georgia's competitive market.
Where can I find and apply to portfolio analyst jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to portfolio analyst jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Georgia openings across Atlanta, Alpharetta, Savannah, and other markets. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employer through each listing.
