Pr Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a pr manager in Texas?
Most pr managers in Texas start with a bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, or journalism, though related degrees in marketing or English are widely accepted. Texas has no state-issued license or exam for pr professionals, but earning accreditation through the Public Relations Society of America, known as the APR credential, strengthens candidacy considerably. Texas employers typically expect several years of progressive agency or in-house experience before promoting someone into a management role.
Which companies hire pr managers in Texas?
Employers hiring pr managers in Texas right now include Google, Amazon, and American Heart Association, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's mix of Fortune 500 headquarters, major health systems, and large public universities means pr management roles appear across industries well beyond traditional media and agency settings.
Which Texas cities have the most pr manager jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston are the Texas cities with the most pr manager openings. Dallas and Houston drive volume through their concentrations of corporate headquarters, regional offices, and large healthcare systems, while Austin's technology sector and state government presence generate consistent demand for communications professionals at the manager level and above.
Are there remote pr manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many comparable management roles. About 32% of pr manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on writing, media outreach, and strategy rather than on-site presence. Media relations and content strategy functions tend to be the most remote-compatible, while crisis response and executive communications roles more often require proximity to leadership.
How can I get hired as a pr manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a coordinator or specialist role at a Texas-based agency or in-house communications team and building toward management from there. Large Texas institutions such as University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston Methodist, and major Austin technology firms run communications internship and associate programs that feed into permanent roles. Moving laterally from marketing coordinator, content strategist, or social media specialist positions is common, and a portfolio of press placements or campaigns, even from internships or freelance work, consistently tips hiring decisions.
Where can I find and apply to pr manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to pr manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly from the listing.
