Pr Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a pr manager in New York?
Public relations is not a licensed profession in New York, so there is no state board or exam required. Most pr managers working in New York hold a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing and build their careers through agency or in-house roles. Accreditation in Public Relations from the Public Relations Society of America is the most widely recognized voluntary credential and carries real weight with New York employers, particularly at the senior level.
Which companies hire pr managers in New York?
Employers hiring pr managers in New York right now include Amazon, Bloomberg, and Foot Locker, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of global media companies, financial institutions, and consumer brands means demand for pr managers runs across a wider range of industries here than in most other markets.
Which New York cities have the most pr manager jobs?
New York, New York, and New York City have the most pr manager openings in New York. New York City dominates because it is the headquarters of a disproportionate share of the country's major media, finance, fashion, and consumer goods organizations, while White Plains and other Westchester and Long Island locations reflect the suburban campuses of large corporations that maintain communications teams outside Manhattan.
Are there remote pr manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles. About 33% of pr manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-based and writing-heavy nature of much of the work. Media relations, content strategy, and internal communications functions tend to be the most remote-compatible parts of the pr manager role, while crisis response and executive visibility work more often requires in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a pr manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a PR coordinator or communications assistant role, which large New York agencies like Edelman, Weber Shandwick, and Burson as well as the in-house teams at major media and financial companies post regularly for candidates without management experience. A strong portfolio of writing samples, even from internships, campus organizations, or freelance pitching, matters more than years of experience at this level. Internship-to-hire pipelines at New York agencies are common and worth targeting directly.
Where can I find and apply to pr manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to pr manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across New York City, White Plains, Long Island, and other parts of the state. Find a role that fits and apply directly from the listing.
