Pr Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a pr manager in California?
A bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, or journalism is the standard entry point for pr manager roles in California. There is no state-issued license required for the profession, but earning the Accreditation in Public Relations credential from the Public Relations Society of America signals professional standing that California employers increasingly recognize. Most practitioners build toward management by starting as coordinators or account executives at agencies or in-house communications teams, accumulating media relations and campaign experience over several years.
Which companies hire pr managers in California?
Employers hiring pr managers in California right now include Apple, TikTok, and NVIDIA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of entertainment studios, major technology firms, and large healthcare systems creates particularly sustained demand for in-house communications professionals.
Which California cities have the most pr manager jobs?
San Jose, San Francisco, and Cupertino account for the largest share of pr manager openings in California. Los Angeles leads due to its entertainment industry and corporate headquarters concentration, San Francisco draws from the technology and venture-backed startup sector, and San Diego's mix of biotech, defense, and healthcare organizations supports a steady volume of communications hiring.
Are there remote pr manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most communications roles, pr manager positions have adapted well to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 17% of pr manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on writing, media outreach, and strategy rather than physical presence. Roles tied to media events, executive visibility, or on-site agency client work tend to remain in-person.
How can I get hired as a pr manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a PR coordinator or communications assistant at a California agency or in-house team, where you build hands-on media relations and writing skills. Large California employers including entertainment studios, technology companies, and health systems such as Kaiser Permanente run communications associate programs and internships that specifically develop early-career candidates. A portfolio of published media placements, press releases, or campus communications work, paired with progress toward an APR credential, meaningfully strengthens an application for a first management-track role.
Where can I find and apply to pr manager jobs in California?
You can find and apply to pr manager jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings from employers actively hiring. Search the listings, find the roles that fit your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that match.
