Senior Risk Consultant Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior risk consultant in Texas?
Most senior risk consultants in Texas begin with a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field and build several years of experience in risk, audit, or compliance roles. Texas does not require a state-issued license specific to risk consulting, but professional credentials such as the Certified Risk Management Professional designation or a CPA issued through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy strengthen candidacy significantly. Advanced degrees and industry-specific experience in energy or financial services accelerate advancement.
How much do senior risk consultants make in Texas?
Senior risk consultants in Texas earn a median of about $103,760 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,250 for the lowest 10% to over $159,220 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior risk consultants in Texas?
Employers hiring senior risk consultants in Texas right now include Protiviti, Deloitte, and Refresco, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of large energy companies, regional banks, and insurance carriers means demand extends well beyond the major consulting firms into in-house risk functions at corporations headquartered in Houston and Dallas.
Which Texas cities have the most senior risk consultant jobs?
Houston, Austin, and Dallas have the most senior risk consultant openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense concentration of energy, petrochemical, and financial services employers that maintain large in-house risk functions, while Dallas draws demand from banking headquarters, insurance carriers, and major consulting firm offices, and Austin's expanding tech and fintech sector has added a growing share of risk and compliance roles.
Are there remote senior risk consultant jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many professional services roles. About 36% of senior risk consultant openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves document review, modeling, and stakeholder reporting rather than on-site presence. Strategy and advisory engagements are most likely to be fully remote, while implementation and audit-support roles more often require some on-site time with clients.
How can I get hired as a senior risk consultant in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a risk analyst or internal audit associate role at a large Texas-based corporation or a regional office of a major consulting firm. Employers such as large Houston energy companies and Dallas-area financial institutions regularly hire candidates from accounting, finance, or operations backgrounds and develop them into risk functions. Earning an entry-level credential such as the Associate Risk Management designation or passing the first sections of the CPA exam through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy gives candidates a concrete edge when applying without direct risk experience.
Where can I find and apply to senior risk consultant jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to senior risk consultant jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across Houston, Dallas, Austin, and other markets in the state. Find the roles that fit your experience and apply directly to each one.
