Entry Level Process Control Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level process control engineer job?
Entry level process control engineer roles typically look for a degree in chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering, along with hands-on exposure to PLCs, SCADA systems, or distributed control systems through coursework or internships. Candidates who can demonstrate real project work, even from a senior capstone or co-op placement, stand out. Familiarity with safety protocols and process simulation software also gives new applicants a clear edge.
Which companies hire entry level process control engineers?
Companies hiring entry level process control engineers right now include Georgia-Pacific, Amgen, and Tesla, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from manufacturers, energy producers, and chemical processors that run ongoing operations and regularly bring in junior engineers to support their control systems teams.
Are there remote entry level process control engineer jobs?
Yes, though most roles at this level involve on-site work with plant equipment and control systems. About 14% of entry level process control engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, typically covering roles in system integration, documentation, or engineering support where hands-on presence is less critical day to day.
Are these new grad process control engineer jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior process control engineer roles. A new grad-friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience and treats internships, co-op placements, or a strong senior project as equivalent to early professional experience. Look for postings that list a degree as required but do not require prior industry employment.
Which industries hire the most entry level process control engineers?
Entry Level process control engineer roles concentrate in Manufacturing, Food & Beverage, and Science & Research, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors run continuous or batch manufacturing processes that depend on automated control systems, creating steady demand for junior engineers who can support commissioning, troubleshooting, and system maintenance work.
