Procurement Assistant Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a procurement assistant in Delaware?
Most procurement assistant roles in Delaware require at minimum an associate degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field, though many employers prefer a bachelor's degree. Delaware does not issue a state-specific license for this role. Earning a recognized credential such as the Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or the APICS CSCP strengthens applications considerably, particularly for roles with corporate headquarters or state government agencies in Wilmington and Dover.
Which companies hire procurement assistants in Delaware?
Employers hiring procurement assistants in Delaware right now include Qnity, CSC, and KBR, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of pharmaceutical companies, major financial institutions, and state government contracting offices means procurement support roles appear consistently across multiple industries throughout the year.
Which Delaware cities have the most procurement assistant jobs?
Wilmington, Newark, and Delaware account for the most procurement assistant openings in Delaware. Wilmington leads because it is home to the largest concentration of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and pharmaceutical companies in the state, while Dover and Newark generate steady openings through state government procurement offices and University of Delaware-affiliated operations.
Are there remote procurement assistant jobs in Delaware?
Yes, though they are less common than fully on-site roles because procurement assistants frequently handle physical documentation, vendor meetings, and warehouse coordination. About 0% of procurement assistant openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements more common than fully remote. Purchase order processing, vendor data entry, and contract support tasks are the functions most likely to be performed off-site.
How can I get hired as a procurement assistant in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for administrative coordinator or purchasing clerk roles at Delaware's large pharmaceutical companies or state government agencies, where structured onboarding makes up for limited experience. DuPont and similarly sized manufacturers in the Wilmington corridor periodically hire through rotational or entry-level supply chain programs. A completed associate degree in business or a short-term APICS certification course signals readiness to Delaware employers even without direct procurement history.
Where can I find and apply to procurement assistant jobs in Delaware?
You can find and apply to procurement assistant jobs in Delaware on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that match your experience.
