Communications Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a communications professional in Delaware?
Most communications roles in Delaware require a bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing, and no state-issued license applies to the field. Employers in Wilmington's financial sector and Delaware state government agencies typically expect a portfolio of writing samples, campaign work, or media coverage alongside the degree. Professional accreditation such as the APR credential from the Public Relations Society of America strengthens candidacy for senior roles.
Which companies hire communications professionals in Delaware?
Delaware communications roles are posted by Delaware Technical Community College, CVS Health, and JPMorganChase and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of Fortune 500 corporate headquarters and large healthcare systems in the Wilmington and Newark corridor drives consistent demand for experienced communications teams.
Which Delaware cities have the most communications jobs?
Dover, Delaware, and Newark account for the largest share of communications openings in Delaware. Wilmington leads because of its dense corporate sector, particularly financial services and legal firms, while Dover generates openings through state government agencies and nonprofit organizations, and Newark's demand is anchored by the University of Delaware and surrounding healthcare and tech employers.
Are there remote communications jobs in Delaware?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 80% of communications openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves writing, editing, and digital strategy that can be done off-site. Content creation, social media management, and internal communications roles tend to offer the most location flexibility, while media relations and executive communications roles often require an on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a communications professional in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for communications coordinator or public affairs assistant roles with Delaware state agencies, which regularly post entry-level openings and offer structured onboarding. The University of Delaware's communications and marketing department hires student workers and recent graduates into coordinator roles. Building a portfolio through nonprofit work with Delaware-based organizations or interning with Christiana Care or a Wilmington financial firm demonstrates practical skill when a resume is thin on formal experience.
Where can I find and apply to communications jobs in Delaware?
You can find and apply to communications jobs in Delaware on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and location, and apply directly through each listing.
