Position Overview
The Manager, Content & Communications, serves as a key member of UWCF's Marketing team, leading the execution of content development, campaign communications, event communications, and digital engagement efforts.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, this position manages the organization's content calendar, coordinates communication plans across departments, develops compelling written content, and evaluates communication performance to strengthen audience engagement and organizational effectiveness.
The ideal candidate combines exceptional writing and storytelling skills with strong project management abilities, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain UWCF's integrated editorial calendar, coordinating content planning and communication schedules across multiple departments and initiatives.
- Develop, write, edit, and manage content for email marketing, social media, website communications, newsletters, annual reports, donor communications, volunteer communications, program communications, and campaign materials.
- Identify, develop, and communicate compelling stories that highlight community impact, donor generosity, volunteer engagement, and organizational priorities.
- Coordinate communication plans supporting fundraising campaigns, affinity groups, advocacy initiatives, volunteer recruitment efforts, stewardship activities, and community awareness campaigns.
- Lead event-related communications including invitations, registration messaging, event emails, social media promotion, event programs, speaker introductions, scripts, signage copy, run-of-show documents, presentations, and post-event communications.
- Manage digital communication efforts across social media, email marketing, and website channels, ensuring consistent messaging and audience engagement.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to gather content, coordinate communication requests, and ensure timely execution of marketing initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate marketing and communication performance using website analytics, social media metrics, email marketing data, campaign reporting, and other measurement tools.
- Prepare performance reports and provide recommendations to improve audience engagement, communication effectiveness, content performance, and marketing outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Marketing, or a related field required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in communications, marketing, content development, public relations, digital marketing, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing content across multiple communication channels, including email marketing, social media, websites, newsletters, and print materials.
- Experience coordinating communication plans, managing content calendars, and executing multi-channel marketing initiatives.
- Experience analyzing communication performance metrics and preparing reports.
- Nonprofit experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Strong project management, organizational, and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Knowledge of social media, email marketing, content marketing, and digital communication best practices.
- Experience with marketing analytics, content management systems, email marketing platforms, and social media management tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Knowledge of AP Style preferred.
Work Schedule & Travel Expectations
Work hours may vary based on organizational needs, including fundraising campaigns, special events, volunteer activities, and community engagements. Occasional evening and weekend work is expected.
Employees must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and the ability to satisfy United Way Central Florida's automobile insurance eligibility requirements. Employees must maintain personal automobile insurance coverage as required by law.
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel independently throughout Polk, Highlands, and Hardee Counties, including UWCF offices, partner agencies, meetings, events, and community locations, is required.
Disaster Response Expectation
All UWCF employees are considered disaster response workers and may be called upon to support emergency response efforts when community Emergency Support Functions (ESF) are activated, after ensuring personal and family safety.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $58,000 - $60,000, commensurate with experience.
