Communications Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a communications professional in Colorado?
Most communications roles in Colorado require a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing, and Colorado has no state-issued license specific to the field. Employers in Denver and Boulder typically expect a portfolio of writing samples and demonstrated channel experience. Entry-level candidates who pair their degree with internship experience at Colorado media outlets, nonprofits, or corporate communications departments move into full-time roles most quickly.
Which companies hire communications professionals in Colorado?
Companies currently hiring communications professionals in Colorado include State of Colorado, BHI, and KBR, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Colorado's blend of aerospace, healthcare, higher education, and outdoor recreation brands means communications openings appear across a wide range of industries and organization sizes throughout the state.
Which Colorado cities have the most communications jobs?
The cities with the most communications openings in Colorado are Denver, Colorado Springs, and Boulder. Denver dominates the market as the state capital and headquarters for major corporations, government agencies, and media organizations, while Boulder's concentration of technology and research institutions and Colorado Springs' large military and defense employer base each sustain consistent demand for communications roles.
Are there remote communications jobs in Colorado?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 56% of communications openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves writing, editing, and managing digital channels rather than on-site presence. Content strategy, copywriting, and internal communications roles are the most consistently remote, while media relations and event communications roles more often require in-person availability.
How can I get hired as a communications professional in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a communications coordinator or content assistant role at a Colorado nonprofit, local government agency, or mid-size Denver company, where hiring expectations are more flexible for early-career candidates. The University of Colorado system and Colorado State University both run student communications internship pipelines that convert into entry-level hires. Building a portfolio of writing and social media samples and pursuing a Colorado Press Association student membership can strengthen an application significantly.
Where can I find and apply to communications jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to communications jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current Colorado openings across industries and experience levels. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and target location, and apply directly to each listing that fits.
