The opportunity
EY’s Supply Chain and Operations practice is seeking a Senior Manager to help clients unlock measurable value through procurement category management, strategic sourcing and cost transformation. You will shape and lead complex, multi-category programs—from opportunity assessment and value-case development through sourcing execution, implementation and benefit realization.
In this role, you will work with CPOs, finance leaders, business stakeholders and suppliers, combining procurement expertise with consulting, commercial and people leadership. You will also help clients apply analytics, AI and emerging sourcing capabilities where they improve decisions, speed and outcomes.
Your key responsibilities
- Shape and sell procurement transformation, category management, strategic sourcing and cost takeout engagements.
- Lead spend and opportunity assessments, develop transparent value cases, prioritize categories and create executable sourcing roadmaps.
- Direct category strategy, market and supplier analysis, sourcing events, negotiations, contracting support, implementation and value tracking.
- Mobilize and lead complex programs, including governance, workplans, resources, risks, engagement economics and executive reporting.
- Build alignment across Procurement, Finance and business teams while balancing cost, service, quality, resilience, innovation and risk.
- Apply spend analytics, contract analytics, market intelligence, scenario modeling and AI-enabled procurement capabilities with appropriate controls.
- Develop client relationships, market offerings, thought leadership and account opportunities.
- Coach and develop high-performing, inclusive teams across pursuit and delivery.
Skills and attributes for success
- Deep knowledge of category management, strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations and procurement-led value improvement.
- Ability to translate complex spend, market and stakeholder information into clear recommendations and executable actions.
- Strong financial, analytical, program, commercial and client relationship skills.
- Executive presence and the ability to lead workshops, negotiations, steering committees and senior stakeholder communications.
- Sound judgment in balancing value, business requirements, supplier capability, risk and implementation feasibility.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, finance, engineering, economics or a related field.
- Seven or more years of relevant procurement experience, including meaningful consulting and leadership experience.
- Experience shaping, selling and delivering complex procurement engagements across multiple categories, workstreams or stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated success in opportunity assessment, value-case development, category strategy, sourcing execution, implementation and benefit realization.
- Experience leading teams and working with senior Procurement, Finance and business leaders.
- Willingness and ability to travel based on client and engagement needs.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Experience with enterprise cost transformation, margin improvement or procurement-led value creation.
- Depth in one or more direct or indirect category families and experience across multiple industries.
- Experience with advanced analytics, market intelligence, should-cost or total-cost modeling, eSourcing, autonomous sourcing, negotiation technology or contract lifecycle management.
- Experience integrating sourcing outcomes with operating model, process, technology, data and change initiatives.
- An MBA, advanced degree or relevant procurement or supply management certification.

Who's Hiring

Procurement Manager Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a procurement manager job in Boston?
Target Boston's dominant sectors first: life sciences and biotech in Kendall Square and the Longwood corridor, hospital systems anchored in the Longwood Medical Area, defense and aerospace contractors near the Route 128 belt, and large universities throughout the city. Candidates with experience in regulated-industry procurement, vendor negotiation, or capital equipment sourcing stand out here. Networking through local supply chain and operations groups also opens doors that job boards alone won't.
Which companies hire procurement managers in Boston?
Boston procurement manager roles are posted by Suffolk Construction, EY, and Chewy and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Boston's employer mix skews toward research hospitals, biotech firms, defense primes, and major universities, all of which run active procurement functions year-round.
Are there remote procurement manager jobs in Boston?
Yes, though with limits: procurement manager work that involves supplier site visits, warehouse oversight, or physical inventory is largely on-site, while strategic sourcing, contract management, and vendor analytics roles are more remote-compatible. About 100% of procurement manager openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with hybrid schedules most common among corporate and professional-services employers in the Seaport and Financial District.
How can I get a procurement manager job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Boston is through a procurement analyst or purchasing coordinator role at one of the city's large hospital systems, universities, or biotech companies, which regularly hire early-career candidates and promote from within. Rotational operations or supply chain programs at Boston-area defense contractors and life sciences firms also provide a structured way in. A CPSM or CPP credential and demonstrated proficiency with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle give entry-level candidates a measurable edge over the competition here.
