About the role
We’re hiring a Director of Product to help lead Rippling’s IT business: device management, identity & access management, AI governance, ITSM, automated compliance, and inventory management. You’ll own strategy and execution across a broad product surface, hire and develop exceptional PMs, and partner directly with engineering, design, sales, marketing, and customer-facing teams to build products that define the next generation of IT.
The world of IT has changed. Employees now work across a sprawling set of devices, apps, permissions, data, AI tools, and automated agents. The old IT stack — MDM, identity, ticketing, inventory, compliance, and access governance as separate systems — creates fragmentation exactly where companies need control.
Rippling IT is the IT infrastructure for the AI era: one platform that unifies identity, devices, inventory, support, AI governance, and compliance on a single data graph, so policy is set once and enforced everywhere. This is one of Rippling’s most strategic and fastest-growing businesses, and we’re looking for a product leader who can scale both the product and the team behind it.
What you will do
- Own product strategy and execution for major parts of Rippling’s IT suite across device management, identity & access management, AI governance, ITSM, automated compliance, and inventory management
- Hire, develop, and lead a high-performing team of product managers, raising the bar for product judgment, customer empathy, velocity, and craft
- Define the next generation of IT products for a world shaped by AI, automation, distributed work, and increasing security and compliance expectations
- Partner deeply with engineering and design to build products that solve complex customer problems with simple, powerful workflows
- Work closely with GTM teams to understand customer needs, sharpen positioning, drive adoption, and scale the business
- Be a thought partner to the IT GM and senior leadership on product strategy, org design, sequencing, and long-term platform bets
- Develop a clear point of view on how AI will change IT, security, governance, and the way companies manage their workforce systems
What you will need
- Deep product leadership experience building and scaling complex products
- A track record of hiring, growing, and leading high-performing product teams
- Excellent product taste and systems thinking: you can turn complex workflows, edge cases, and platform constraints into elegant customer experiences
- High clock speed, strong ownership, and a bias toward action
Nice to have
- Strong IT, infrastructure, security, or compliance buyer empathy. You understand the world of IT admins, CIOs, CISOs, and the teams who operate mission-critical systems

Product Director Jobs in San Francisco: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a product director job in San Francisco?
Focus your search on SoMa, Mission Bay, and the Financial District, where the highest concentration of product director roles sits across fintech, enterprise SaaS, and healthtech. San Francisco employers weight platform-scale experience and cross-functional leadership heavily, so candidates who can speak to shipping products at scale and influencing without authority stand out. Attending local product meetups and engaging the SF product community also builds visibility with hiring managers directly.
Which companies hire product directors in San Francisco?
Employers hiring product directors in San Francisco right now include Salesforce, Airwallex, and Adobe, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. San Francisco's hiring landscape is anchored by high-growth technology companies, late-stage startups, and established platforms that build consumer and enterprise products at significant scale.
Are there remote product director jobs in San Francisco?
Yes, though product director roles vary, with strategic and analytical work lending itself to remote and hybrid arrangements more readily than hands-on team leadership positions. About 47% of product director openings tied to San Francisco are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broader flexibility across the tech sector. Roles at distributed-first companies in fintech and enterprise SaaS account for the largest share of fully remote listings.
How can I get a product director job in San Francisco with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a senior product manager role at a San Francisco startup or mid-stage tech company first, then building toward the director title internally. San Francisco's dense startup ecosystem creates genuine openings for people who can own a product area end-to-end early, without the years of seniority larger companies require. Roles at Series A and Series B companies in SoMa and Mission Bay are where that trajectory most often begins.
Which industries hire the most product directors in San Francisco?
The sectors hiring the most product directors in San Francisco are Technology & Software, Banking & Financial Services, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. San Francisco's concentration of venture-backed technology companies and established platforms in these sectors drives consistently high demand for experienced product leadership across the city.
