Position Summary
Lead Director, Product Innovation is responsible for leading the full innovation lifecycle for new payor-focused product concepts, from ideation through launch. The role partners closely with Enterprise and Aetna strategy teams, product development, product strategic partnerships, DDAT, and other shared service partners to translate ideas into launch-ready solutions. This role owns innovation from concept through launch, with handoff to the appropriate long-term owner after market introduction rather than ongoing product management.

Product Director Jobs in Richmond: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a product director job in Richmond?
Richmond's strongest hiring for product directors comes from fintech firms clustered downtown, health system technology groups around the VCU Health corridor, and defense and government IT contractors in the broader metro. Candidates who combine B2B SaaS or regulated-industry experience with a demonstrated history of cross-functional leadership tend to stand out. Networking through local tech meetups and the greater Richmond tech community also opens doors that online applications alone rarely do.
Which companies hire product directors in Richmond?
Richmond product director roles are posted by CVS Health, Information Technology Senior Management Forum, and Eli Lilly and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The local market skews toward established financial services companies, regional health systems, and mid-size software firms rather than early-stage startups, so most openings come with structured product teams.
Are there remote product director jobs in Richmond?
Yes, though product director roles tend to be more remote-friendly than hands-on operational positions, since the work centers on strategy, roadmaps, and stakeholder alignment rather than physical presence. About 86% of product director openings tied to Richmond are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broader tech-sector norms. Fully remote postings most often come from Richmond-based software and fintech employers comfortable with distributed leadership.
How can I get a product director job in Richmond with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Richmond is moving into a senior product manager role at a local fintech, health IT, or government contractor, then building toward a director title from within. Regional employers like VCU Health affiliates and mid-size software firms frequently promote from internal PM ranks rather than hiring externally at the director level. Strengthening skills in stakeholder management, roadmap prioritization, and data-informed decision-making accelerates that progression in Richmond's relationship-driven market.
Which industries hire the most product directors in Richmond?
Most product director openings in Richmond sit in Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Richmond's position as a mid-Atlantic financial hub, combined with strong health system and federal contracting presence, means those sectors consistently generate the largest share of senior product leadership demand in the city.
