Entry Level Project Accountant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level project accountant job?
Focus on coursework or internship experience in cost accounting, budget tracking, or project cost controls, and highlight any exposure to tools like Excel, QuickBooks, or ERP systems. Employers at this level prioritize candidates who can read a project budget, reconcile expenses, and communicate variances clearly. A degree in accounting, finance, or construction management gives you a strong foundation, and any project-based work samples strengthen your application considerably.
Which companies hire entry level project accountants?
Companies hiring entry level project accountants right now include Jobot, W G Yates & Sons Construction, and Clayco, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from construction firms, engineering consultancies, real estate developers, and government contractors, all of which manage large multi-phase projects that require dedicated cost-tracking support from junior accounting staff.
Are there remote entry level project accountant jobs?
Yes, though most openings lean on-site given the project-coordination nature of the work. About 4% of entry level project accountant openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, concentrated in industries where financial reporting can happen independently from the job site. Hybrid schedules are increasingly common, especially at larger firms that have centralized accounting functions.
Are these new grad project accountant jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior project accountant roles. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes candidates with zero to two years of experience, accepts internships or co-op placements as qualifying experience, and does not require a CPA or professional certification. Look for language like 'entry level,' 'recent graduates welcome,' or 'will train the right candidate' to identify openings suited to someone starting out.
Which industries hire the most entry level project accountants?
Entry Level project accountant roles concentrate in Construction & Real Estate, Consulting & Professional Services, and Staffing & Recruiting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive hiring at the entry level because they run long-term, multi-budget projects that require dedicated cost accounting support, giving new graduates structured exposure to job cost reporting, contract billing, and financial controls from day one.
