Entry Level Project Architect Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level project architect job?
Focus on building a portfolio that shows real design thinking, whether from studio coursework, internships, or academic competitions. Entry level employers typically look for proficiency in CAD or BIM software like Revit, a demonstrated understanding of building codes, and the ability to support licensed architects on project documentation. Internship experience, even brief, signals professional readiness and gives you a clear edge over candidates with coursework alone.
Which companies hire entry level project architects?
Companies hiring entry level project architects right now include A2H, Stantec, and Woolpert, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of regional architecture and design firms, general contractors with in-house design teams, and commercial real estate developers looking for junior support staff to assist on active projects.
Are there remote entry level project architect jobs?
Yes, though most project architect work at the entry level still requires on-site presence for construction administration and client coordination. About 50% of entry level project architect openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at firms that use cloud-based BIM platforms and have distributed project teams.
Are these new grad project architect jobs?
Yes, many of these listings are new grad friendly, welcoming recent graduates, junior candidates, and career changers with little to no professional experience. A new grad posting typically mentions 0 to 2 years of experience, accepts an internship in place of full-time history, or explicitly invites applicants who can demonstrate skills through a portfolio rather than a long employment record.
Which industries hire the most entry level project architects?
Entry Level project architect roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Fashion & Apparel, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive consistent demand at the junior level because they manage high volumes of new construction, renovation, and tenant improvement projects that rely on entry level architects to handle documentation, drafting, and coordination tasks.
