Candidates with experience in healthcare IT, infrastructure, or financial services transformation have a clear edge in this market. PMP certification or familiarity with Agile and waterfall methodologies helps you stand out, particularly with the mid-size boutique consultancies that do significant hiring across the city.

About 90% of project consultant openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common among technology and financial services employers in the Loop and Fulton Market corridor.
How can I get a project consultant job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through junior analyst or project coordinator roles at one of the city's many mid-size consulting boutiques, which hire more entry-level staff than the major nationals and offer faster exposure to client-facing work. Chicago's large hospital networks and insurance companies also bring in associate-level project staff regularly.
