Project Controls Engineer Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project controls engineer job in Los Angeles?
Focus your search on Los Angeles sectors that drive the heaviest hiring: large-scale construction and infrastructure, aerospace and defense contractors in El Segundo and Torrance, entertainment studio capital projects, and public transit expansion tied to Metro. Candidates who combine Primavera P6 proficiency with experience on multi-phase projects get the most callbacks. Targeting prime contractors and program management firms headquartered in Downtown LA or the South Bay gives you the densest concentration of openings.
Which companies hire project controls engineers in Los Angeles?
Employers hiring project controls engineers in Los Angeles right now include STV, Cumming, and MAAS COMPANIES, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Los Angeles draws a mix of global engineering and construction firms, aerospace primes, public agencies, and owner-representative firms managing major capital programs across the region.
Are there remote project controls engineer jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, but selectively. Project controls engineering is largely site-linked work, so fully remote roles are less common than in purely analytical fields. About 11% of project controls engineer openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. The tasks most likely to stay off-site are schedule analysis, cost reporting, and earned value management rather than field coordination or site walk-downs.
How can I get a project controls engineer job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is through project controls coordinator or scheduler roles with regional construction management and infrastructure firms working on Metro expansion or LAX modernization projects. Community college certificate programs in project management pair well with internships at those firms. Entry-level analyst roles inside aerospace contractors in the South Bay also offer a structured ladder into senior controls positions.
Which industries hire the most project controls engineers in Los Angeles?
The sectors hiring the most project controls engineers in Los Angeles are Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Energy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Los Angeles combines a uniquely large pipeline of public infrastructure investment, ongoing aerospace and defense programs in the South Bay, and major entertainment studio facility projects that sustain consistent demand for controls professionals.
