Project Engineer Jobs in Denver: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project engineer job in Denver?
Focus your search on Denver's construction, water infrastructure, and energy sectors, which drive the heaviest local hiring. The Central Business District and Denver Tech Center hold the most postings, while RTD expansion and Denver Water capital projects keep civil and utilities-focused engineers in demand. Candidates who can show experience with Colorado-scale public infrastructure or energy transition projects stand out in this market.
Which companies hire project engineers in Denver?
Companies currently hiring project engineers in Denver include Affiliated Engineers, EXP, and GFT, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The Denver market mixes large engineering and construction firms with municipal utilities, transit authorities, and fast-growing energy developers headquartered or heavily operating along the Front Range.
Are there remote project engineer jobs in Denver?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the specialty: hands-on civil, structural, and field-oversight roles are almost always on-site, while systems, software-adjacent, and program management roles carry more flexibility. About 54% of project engineer openings tied to Denver are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at technology and energy companies based in the Denver Tech Center.
How can I get a project engineer job in Denver with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Denver is through a project engineer associate or junior engineer role at a mid-size construction or civil engineering firm along the I-25 corridor, where project volume is high and mentorship-oriented teams are common. Denver's active public infrastructure pipeline, including RTD and Denver Water projects, also generates entry-level openings where recent graduates with internship or co-op experience compete well. Familiarity with construction management software used by Colorado contractors gives candidates a concrete edge.
Which industries hire the most project engineers in Denver?
Denver project engineer roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Denver's ongoing population growth, RTD rail and bus rapid transit expansion, and the Front Range's energy transition investment keep construction, utilities, and infrastructure at the top of local hiring volume.
