Project Engineer Jobs in Jacksonville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project engineer job in Jacksonville?
Focus your search on Jacksonville's construction, defense contracting, and civil infrastructure sectors, which drive the highest volume of local openings. The Southside corridor and Downtown core concentrate many of the largest employers. Candidates with experience on large-scale commercial builds, port or logistics infrastructure, or military facility projects have a clear edge. Tailoring your resume to Jacksonville's project types and local contractor networks will move you ahead of generic applicants.
Which companies hire project engineers in Jacksonville?
Jacksonville project engineer roles are posted by H W Lochner, COMANCO, and AEC Talent Acquisition and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market includes a mix of national engineering and construction firms with regional offices, defense contractors tied to Naval Station Mayport and NAS Jacksonville, and civil infrastructure companies serving the port and surrounding growth corridors.
Are there remote project engineer jobs in Jacksonville?
Yes, though with limits: project engineer work is largely hands-on and site-dependent, so fully remote roles are uncommon, while hybrid arrangements are more realistic for the design, coordination, and documentation phases. About 15% of project engineer openings tied to Jacksonville are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with flexibility concentrated in roles focused on scheduling, cost control, and engineering review rather than active field supervision.
How can I get a project engineer job in Jacksonville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Jacksonville is through assistant project engineer or project coordinator roles with regional construction and civil engineering firms, many of which hire directly from the University of North Florida and Florida State College at Jacksonville. Defense contractors around the naval bases also run structured engineering development programs for early-career candidates. Building familiarity with construction management software and pursuing an EIT credential strengthens your profile significantly for Jacksonville employers.
Which industries hire the most project engineers in Jacksonville?
Most project engineer openings in Jacksonville sit in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Manufacturing, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Jacksonville's position as a major port city, combined with two active naval installations and sustained commercial construction growth along the Southside and St. Johns River corridors, keeps demand for project engineers consistently high across these sectors.
