Job Summary
Quality Engineered Solutions is seeking an experienced, hands-on Field Service Engineer to support our industrial maintenance, machine installation, and field repair operations. In this role, you will be the primary technical presence at client manufacturing plants—troubleshooting, servicing, and commissioning CNC machine tools, automated manufacturing cells, high-pressure auxiliary systems, and heavy industrial machinery.

Key Responsibilities
- CNC & Machinery Installation: Perform on-site mechanical installation, precision leveling, alignment, integration, and commissioning of CNC machinery (mills, lathes) and auxiliary manufacturing systems.
- Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control faults on CNC machine tools, spindle drives, axis servo systems, and automated logic controllers (PLCs).
- Preventative Maintenance: Execute structured preventative maintenance (PM) service agreements across customer machine fleets to eliminate unplanned downtime and maintain tight machining tolerances.
- Fluid Power & Auxiliaries: Inspect, diagnose, and repair high-pressure hydraulic circuits, pneumatic actuators, high-pressure coolant units, and chip-filtration auxiliary systems.
- Safe Shop-Floor Operations: Safely operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, and standard rigging/lifting hardware in compliance with OSHA guidelines, QES standards, and client safety policies.
- Root Cause Analysis: Read electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and ladder logic to identify root causes of machine failure and implement permanent mechanical solutions.
- Field Documentation: Complete detailed digital field service reports (FSRs) logging diagnostic findings, corrective actions, parts replaced, and proactive recommendations.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate directly with plant managers, maintenance supervisors, and machine operators to explain repairs, provide technical updates, and verify customer sign-off.
Qualifications & Skills
- CNC Machine Experience: Practical experience troubleshooting, maintaining, or repairing CNC machinery (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, or Heidenhain controls) and linear/rotary motion components (ball screws, linear guides, way lube systems).
- Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems: Strong hands-on mechanical proficiency diagnosing high-pressure pumps, proportional valves, manifolds, and cylinder circuits.
- Electrical & Controls Literacy: Ability to read schematics, trace wiring, test sensors/switches, and navigate basic PLC ladder logic and control diagnostics.
- Fabrication Skills: Practical experience with light welding (MIG/TIG), torch cutting, or manual machining is a plus.
- Equipment Safety: Experience operating aerial work platforms (scissor lifts); forklift operation or basic machinery rigging knowledge preferred.
- Professional Communication: Clear, professional verbal and written communication in English; capable of representing QES professionally on client sites.
- Self-Direction: Strong problem-solving ability with the independence to manage complex field repairs under real-world production deadlines.
- Travel & Physical Requirements: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to travel to regional client sites and lift up to 50 lbs.
