Project Manager Jobs in Memphis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project manager job in Memphis?
Focus on Memphis's dominant hiring sectors: healthcare systems, logistics and supply chain, construction, and municipal infrastructure. Roles cluster Downtown, in Midtown's medical district, and along the Poplar Avenue corridor in East Memphis. Candidates who can show experience coordinating cross-functional teams in fast-moving operational environments stand out here. PMP certification helps, but demonstrated delivery experience in healthcare IT or construction management carries real weight with local employers.
Which companies hire project managers in Memphis?
Companies currently hiring project managers in Memphis include ECS Limited, Turner Construction Company, and HDR, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Memphis's employer base skews toward large healthcare networks, global logistics firms, and regional construction and engineering companies, all of which run active project management teams.
Are there remote project manager jobs in Memphis?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role type. Project manager work tied to construction sites, hospital operations, or warehouse logistics is almost always on-site, while IT, software implementation, and program management roles are far more remote-friendly. About 18% of project manager openings tied to Memphis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the strongest remote concentrations in technology and corporate program management functions.
How can I get a project manager job in Memphis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Memphis is through project coordinator or operations coordinator roles at the city's large healthcare systems and logistics companies, which regularly hire entry-level candidates and promote internally. Volunteering to lead process improvement projects within your current role, even outside traditional PM titles, builds the portfolio local employers look for. Familiarity with tools like Smartsheet or Microsoft Project, common in Memphis's healthcare and construction sectors, gives newer candidates a concrete edge.
Which industries hire the most project managers in Memphis?
Memphis project manager roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Memphis's position as a major logistics hub and home to several large regional hospital networks creates sustained, year-round demand for project managers who can coordinate complex, multi-site operations.
