What we are looking for:
We are seeking a Project Manager to help us support and expand our solid waste and environmental engineering practice. You will lead engineering, environmental, and consulting projects in the coal-fired power, industrial, and municipal solid waste sectors. This role will involve managing multidisciplinary engineering projects associated with solid waste management facilities. We will value both your ability to mentor your internal team members and your active participation in client and business development. The successful candidate will collaborate with clients and our engineers, scientists, and support staff to deliver projects associated with design, construction, environmental monitoring, remediation, and permitting of solid waste facilities. This position provides a strong pathway to technical leadership, client management, and business development with a rapidly growing and successful company. You may work hybrid out of our Madison office. Remote work may be considered for the ideal candidate.

Qualifications:
- Manage engineering projects from conceptual planning through design, permitting, bidding, and construction support.
- Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and project teams.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary staff including civil, geotechnical, environmental, and construction professionals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors.
- Participate in client development
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
- Support staff development, training, and project execution.
- Lead engineering design and analysis for solid waste projects, including:
o Landfill cells, expansions, and closures.
o Leachate collection systems
o Landfill gas collection and control systems
o Storm water management systems
o Grading and site development plans
o Transfer station permit modifications
- Prepare and review:
o Technical reports
o Permit applications
o Construction drawings and specifications
o Cost estimates and engineering studies
- Perform coordination and provide support during construction and construction quality assurance (CQA) activities.
- Be knowledgeable on regulatory permitting and compliance with:
o State solid waste and environmental regulations
o Air permitting related to landfill gas systems
o Storm water and water quality systems
- Coordinate with local and state regulatory agencies during permit review and approvals.
- Lead preparation of technical proposals, scopes, and cost estimates.
- Participate in client meetings, industry conferences, and professional organizations.
- Identify and deliver opportunities to expand services with existing clients.
- Plan, coordinate, and develop new client relationships in our industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geological/Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering required.
- Minimum 8 years of professional engineering experience required, preferably in solid waste or environmental consulting required.
- Professional registration (e.g., P.E.) preferred
- Demonstrated experience with remediation and solid waste infrastructure projects required.
- Strong project management and organizational skills required.
- Experience directing staff using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil3D design software preferred.
