Position Summary

The Project Superintendent is responsible for on-site construction leadership, safety oversight, trade coordination, schedule execution, quality control, and day-to-day project administration. This role keeps the field moving, keeps communication clear, and helps ensure the work is built correctly, safely, and in alignment with the contract documents.

Key Responsibilities

1. Safety Oversight and Reporting

• Promote and enforce a safety-first culture across all field activities.
• Conduct routine site safety observations and verify subcontractor compliance with project safety requirements.
• Document jobsite incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate daily pre-task planning and confirm trades are working safely within their assigned scopes.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and job hazard reviews.
• Ensure required safety documentation, signage, PPE use, housekeeping, and access controls are maintained.
• Report safety concerns promptly and assist in incident response, documentation, and follow-up corrective actions.

2. Project Oversight

• Lead daily field operations from mobilization through substantial completion and closeout.
• Maintain control of site activities to ensure work is installed in accordance with plans, specifications, approved submittals, and applicable codes.
• Identify and resolve field conflicts, access issues, sequencing problems, and coordination gaps before they affect progress.
• Monitor workmanship and installation quality across all trades.
• Maintain awareness of long-lead items, site constraints, inspections, and critical path activities.
• Enforce project site standards for cleanliness, organization, access, logistics, and professionalism.

3. Trade Coordination

• Direct and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field labor to maintain productive workflow.
• Conduct daily coordination with trade partners to confirm manpower, work areas, material availability, and upcoming needs.
• Sequence work between trades to minimize rework, downtime, and interference.
• Verify predecessor work is complete before releasing successor trades into work areas.
• Coordinate inspections, special inspections, utility work, deliveries, and shutdowns with affected parties.
• Support resolution of field installation issues by reviewing drawings, details, RFIs, submittals, and manufacturer requirements.

4. Scheduling and Look-Ahead Planning

• Drive the field schedule and hold trade partners accountable to milestone dates.
• Prepare and maintain short-interval and look-ahead schedules, typically two-week and three-week planning windows.
• Review upcoming work with subcontractors to confirm labor, materials, equipment, and access are aligned with project needs.
• Identify schedule risks early and implement recovery actions with the project team.
• Coordinate milestone activities including rough-in completion, inspections, drywall close-in, equipment startup, finishes, punch, and turnover.
• Communicate schedule impacts, delays, and recovery measures clearly to project management and field stakeholders.

Software and Documentation

• Use Procore for daily logs, site documentation, safety reporting, punch tracking, and drawing markups using the Procore drawing tool.
• Be able to navigate plans, drawings, and revisions in Bluebeam for field coordination and reference.
• Must be knowledgeable in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and field coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings.
• Working knowledge of building codes, inspection processes, and typical jurisdictional requirements. Nobody knows all the codes – we are looking for someone who is resourceful in looking up codes to ensure compliance.
• Strong ability to manage multiple trades and maintain control of active work areas.
• Practical understanding of project scheduling, milestone planning, and CPM.
• Strong documentation habits and attention to detail.
• Ability to identify field issues early and drive practical resolution.
• Strong communication skills with subcontractors, inspectors, owners, architects, and internal team members.
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office. Preferred working proficiency in Procore and Bluebeam but we can work with you on training as both are fairly simple to use.
• Ability to maintain professionalism, urgency, and composure in a fast-paced field environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience as a superintendent, assistant superintendent, or lead field coordinator on commercial construction projects.
• Experience managing site safety reporting and field documentation.
• Experience coordinating MEP, framing, drywall, finishes, site work, and final turnover activities.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to work full-time on active construction sites in Phoenix-area weather conditions.
• Ability to walk jobsites regularly, climb ladders or stairs, and access active work areas safely.
• Ability to conduct field inspections, observe trade work closely, and maintain site presence throughout the workday.
• This role requires a low to mid level of labor associated mostly with protection of jobsites, property adjacent to jobsites, and general housekeeping.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
