We are hiring an experienced Senior Site Superintendent / Project Manager to lead complex residential construction projects throughout the Boston area.
We are specifically looking for a senior field leader who can independently manage two to three active projects from mobilization through final turnover. The right candidate will have direct experience with ground-up multifamily construction, historic brownstone renovations, full-gut remodels, or other complex urban residential projects.
This is not an Assistant Superintendent position. You will be responsible for daily field operations, subcontractor performance, project schedules, inspections, safety, quality, documentation, and communication with ownership and project stakeholders.
The ideal candidate understands the challenges of building in Boston, including older structures, limited site access, occupied neighborhoods, permitting requirements, structural discoveries, and high-end finish expectations.

- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, RFIs, submittals, and field documentation
- Monitor jobsite progress, safety, quality, budget considerations, and subcontractor performance
- Identify structural, constructability, scheduling, and coordination issues before they delay the project
- Lead subcontractor meetings, jobsite walks, inspections, progress reviews, and punch-list completion

- Ensure projects are completed safely, professionally, and in accordance with quality and schedule expectations

- Ability to manage multiple active projects without constant oversight
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, subcontractor coordination, inspections, safety, and quality control
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, structural plans, specifications, and construction documents
- Experience managing projects from initial mobilization through final completion and closeout
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, documentation, and field problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel between active jobsites throughout the Boston area

Senior Level Project Superintendent Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level project superintendent job?
Employers hiring at the senior level look for candidates who have independently owned project outcomes from preconstruction through closeout, not just supervised tasks. What gives candidates an edge is demonstrated experience managing subcontractors, coordinating with owners and architects, and resolving schedule or budget conflicts without escalation. A record of successfully delivering complex or high-value projects, combined with the ability to mentor junior field staff, signals readiness for these roles.
Which companies hire senior level project superintendents?
Companies hiring senior level project superintendents right now include McCarthy Building Companies, Turner Construction Company, and GREGORY CONSTRUCTION, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hiring at this level tends to concentrate among general contractors, construction management firms, and owner-developer organizations running large-scale commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects that require experienced on-site leadership.
Are there remote senior level project superintendent jobs?
Yes, though the role is predominantly site-based by nature. About 3% of senior level project superintendent openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve preconstruction oversight, multi-site program management, or consulting work that does not require daily physical presence. Most openings still expect full-time on-site leadership.
What makes a project superintendent role senior level?
Senior level project superintendent roles are defined by full ownership of project execution, not just day-to-day site management. At this stage, the expectation is that you set the construction schedule, hold subcontractors accountable, manage the owner relationship directly, and mentor less experienced superintendents and field staff. The scope is typically larger, the projects more complex, and the accountability for cost, schedule, and quality outcomes rests with you.
Which industries hire the most senior level project superintendents?
Senior Level project superintendent roles concentrate in Construction & Real Estate, Consulting & Professional Services, and Energy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors drive hiring at the senior level because they consistently deliver large, technically complex projects that require experienced field leadership to keep schedules, quality standards, and safety programs on track from groundbreaking through handover.
