Telehealth Psychiatrist | Remote 1099
About Baba
Baba is rebuilding healthcare for older adults.
Navigating healthcare can be overwhelming. By 2030, over 65 million older adults will make up nearly a quarter of the U.S. population, creating one of the largest and most urgent challenges in healthcare. Baba makes it easier by pairing older adults with an expert advocate (usually a nurse or social worker) who coordinates their care. Baba's insurance-covered advocates have supported thousands of families by writing insurance appeals, researching specialists, getting medical equipment and cheaper medications, and scheduling appointments.
Baba's investors include General Catalyst, Genius Ventures, Soma Capital, and Ground Up Ventures, along with angel investors who were founders or executives of leading companies.
About the Role
As a Psychiatrist at Baba, you'll build strong relationships with patients and help deliver an unparalleled advocacy experience. You'll conduct brief telehealth intake visits to understand the challenges a patient is facing and determine whether they're suited to receive advocacy support.
You'll work closely with Baba's team of nurses and social workers to help patients achieve their health goals, and with our technology team to help shape AI tools that enhance the clinical experience. This is an opportunity to help build a new patient care program from the ground up, ensuring Baba is well-equipped to serve one of healthcare's most vulnerable populations.
We're looking for a psychiatrist who cares deeply about improving care access for Medicare-aged patients and is excited to work at an early-stage startup.
What You'll Do
Learn Baba's systems, tools, technology, and partners, while bringing your clinical expertise to every patient interaction.
Conduct initial evaluations with patients who have behavioral health and advocacy needs.
Identify and prioritize patient needs to maintain a streamlined care continuum.
Oversee patient care plans in partnership with healthcare advocates, holistically addressing social determinants of health — food resources, transportation access, and support at home.
Collaborate with our technology team to help develop innovative AI tools that enhance the clinical experience.
Bring a positive attitude and a bias toward action in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Psychiatrist Jobs in San Francisco: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a psychiatrist job in San Francisco?
The strongest hiring comes from San Francisco's public health system, academic medical centers, and the city's large network of federally qualified health centers and community behavioral health clinics. Candidates who have experience with underserved populations, dual-diagnosis cases, or telepsychiatry move quickly in this market. Board certification and a California license are baseline requirements, but familiarity with the city's specific mental health service structures gives applicants a real edge.
Which companies hire psychiatrists in San Francisco?
Employers hiring psychiatrists in San Francisco right now include North East Medical Services, US Department of Veterans Affairs, and University of California, San Francisco, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Francisco's hiring base is unusually broad, mixing large academic health systems with nonprofit community clinics, county-funded programs, and private outpatient groups concentrated throughout the city.
Are there remote psychiatrist jobs in San Francisco?
Yes, though psychiatry is more remote-friendly than most clinical roles because medication management and therapy sessions translate well to telehealth. About 44% of psychiatrist openings tied to San Francisco are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the strong telehealth infrastructure built by Bay Area health networks. Outpatient and consultation-liaison work tends to offer the most flexibility, while inpatient and emergency roles remain on-site.
How can I get a psychiatrist job in San Francisco with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through San Francisco's public behavioral health system, which operates training-affiliated clinics and residency pipeline programs across the city. Entry-level psychiatrists often start in county mental health, federally qualified health centers, or academic medical centers affiliated with UCSF that offer structured supervision. Familiarity with integrated care models and a willingness to work with complex, high-acuity populations significantly strengthens a new graduate's candidacy in San Francisco specifically.
Which industries hire the most psychiatrists in San Francisco?
San Francisco psychiatrist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Sports & Recreation, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The city's combination of a large public health infrastructure, a major academic medical center in UCSF, and a dense network of community mental health organizations creates consistent hiring demand across those sectors year-round.
