Entry Level Purchasing Specialist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level purchasing specialist job?
Focus on coursework or internship experience in supply chain, procurement, or inventory management, and highlight any exposure to purchase orders, vendor communication, or ERP systems like SAP or Oracle. Employers hiring at this level typically look for strong attention to detail, basic negotiation awareness, and comfort working with spreadsheets or procurement software. A supply chain certificate or relevant internship can give your application a real edge over candidates with no hands-on background.
Which companies hire entry level purchasing specialists?
Companies hiring entry level purchasing specialists right now include IGT, East West Bank, and Surveillance One, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring tends to come from manufacturers, distributors, healthcare systems, and government contractors that run structured procurement teams and regularly bring in junior buyers to support sourcing and vendor management.
Are there remote entry level purchasing specialist jobs?
Yes, though on-site roles are still common at this level. About 2% of entry level purchasing specialist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, so opportunities do exist for candidates who need flexibility. Remote roles at this stage often involve digital purchasing platforms and require strong communication skills since you'll coordinate with vendors and internal teams without in-person support.
Are these new grad purchasing specialist jobs?
Yes, many of the listings here are new grad friendly, including junior and recent graduate roles that welcome candidates with zero to two years of experience. A new grad posting typically notes that internships, academic projects, or a relevant certificate can substitute for full-time work history. Look for language like "0 to 2 years preferred" or "entry level considered" as reliable signals that the employer is open to candidates just starting out.
Which industries hire the most entry level purchasing specialists?
Entry Level purchasing specialist roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive consistent hiring at this level because they manage high volumes of supplier relationships, raw materials, or equipment procurement and need junior staff to support buyers and sourcing teams as part of structured purchasing departments.
