The Role

The Quality, Risk & Compliance Program Director serves as a strategic leader responsible for overseeing PPSWO's integrated quality, risk management, compliance, privacy, security, and regulatory readiness programs. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role partners closely with executive leadership, clinical teams, and operational departments to strengthen organizational performance, mitigate risk, support accreditation readiness, and ensure compliance with applicable healthcare regulations and standards.

As the organization's Healthcare Compliance Officer, HIPAA Privacy Officer, and HIPAA Security Officer, you'll play a critical role in advancing a culture of integrity, accountability, patient safety, and continuous improvement.

Lead Quality, Risk & Compliance Programs

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of PPSWO's integrated Quality, Risk & Compliance program.
• Conduct organizational risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Establish program goals, priorities, metrics, and reporting processes.
• Monitor trends, audit results, and organizational performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Present recommendations and key findings to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.

Drive Quality Improvement & Performance Excellence

• Lead organization-wide quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
• Analyze quality indicators, patient experience data, operational outcomes, and compliance trends.
• Coordinate audits, assessments, corrective action plans, and performance improvement projects.
• Partner with leaders across the organization to implement sustainable process improvements.

Oversee Compliance, Privacy & Information Security

• Serve as the organization's Healthcare Compliance Officer, HIPAA Privacy Officer, and HIPAA Security Officer.
• Lead compliance investigations and oversee confidential reporting processes.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, payer, grant, and accreditation requirements.
• Coordinate responses to privacy, security, and data breach incidents.
• Develop training and awareness initiatives related to compliance, privacy, and information security.

Maintain Regulatory & Accreditation Readiness

• Lead preparation for audits, inspections, surveys, and accreditation reviews.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with PPFA, OSHA, CLIA, ODH, DEA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
• Monitor corrective action plans and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain documentation and evidence supporting organizational compliance and readiness.

Strengthen Risk Management & Organizational Accountability

• Oversee incident reporting and enterprise risk management activities.
• Lead investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning.
• Support workplace safety and emergency preparedness initiatives.
• Chair the Quality, Risk & Compliance Steering Committee.
• Collaborate with leaders across departments to strengthen accountability and compliance culture.

You're the Right Fit If You...

• Have a bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, Health Information Management, or a related field.
• Have five or more years of progressive experience in healthcare compliance, privacy, investigations, auditing, regulatory affairs, risk management, or a related area.
• Possess strong knowledge of HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules.
• Understand healthcare regulations and standards, including CLIA, OSHA, EPA, and other applicable requirements.
• Have experience with quality improvement, risk assessment, regulatory review processes, evaluation, and change management initiatives.
• Can effectively lead multidisciplinary teams and influence organizational outcomes.
• Are skilled at facilitating meetings, coaching staff, and driving accountability.
• Have strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Have reliable transportation and can travel to all PPSWO locations and assigned worksites as needed.
• Are committed to supporting and advancing PPSWO's mission and organizational objectives.

Bonus Points If You...

• Hold a healthcare compliance certification or are willing to obtain certification within 12 months.
• Have experience in reproductive healthcare, ambulatory care, community health, or public health settings.
• Have public health experience.
• Have experience presenting to executive leadership and boards of directors.
• Have knowledge of Ohio healthcare regulations.
• Hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

What to Expect: Work Environment

• Hybrid work environment with regular on-site responsibilities.
• Required on-site presence during inspections, audits, surveys, and visits from regulatory agencies, whether announced or unannounced.
• Travel between PPSWO locations and other assigned worksites as needed.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
• May be exposed to communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, cleaning chemicals, hazardous materials, and strong odors in a healthcare setting.
