Entry Level Registered Land Surveyor Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level registered land surveyor job?
Focus on completing your state's required field hours and sitting for the Fundamentals of Surveying exam as early as you can, since licensure progress signals commitment to employers. Highlight any internship fieldwork, CAD or GIS software skills, and hands-on coursework in your resume. Entry level employers at this stage typically care more about technical aptitude and work ethic than years on the job.
Which companies hire entry level registered land surveyors?
Companies hiring entry level registered land surveyors right now include Jobot, Quanta Services, and Clackamas County, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of regional engineering and surveying firms, municipal government agencies, and infrastructure contractors that bring on junior candidates to support licensed surveyors in the field.
Are there remote entry level registered land surveyor jobs?
Yes, though most roles in this field require on-site fieldwork by nature. About 15% of entry level registered land surveyor openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, typically covering office-based tasks like drafting, data processing, and CAD work rather than full remote positions. Candidates comfortable with a hybrid setup will find the most flexibility at this stage.
Are these new grad registered land surveyor jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior registered land surveyor roles alongside other entry level openings. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or co-op work in place of full-time tenure, or explicitly values a strong field portfolio over an extensive resume. Look for language like 'recent grads encouraged' or 'will train.'
Which industries hire the most entry level registered land surveyors?
Entry Level registered land surveyor roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Staffing & Recruiting, and Government & Public Sector, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because boundary surveys, subdivision platting, construction staking, and infrastructure projects generate consistent demand for field staff that employers are willing to train up from the junior level.
