Registered Nurse Jobs in Salt Lake City: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a registered nurse job in Salt Lake City?
Salt Lake City's highest hiring volume for registered nurses runs through its major hospital systems, outpatient surgery centers, and the University of Utah Health network, with strong secondary demand from the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System and community health clinics. Candidates who hold specialty certifications in areas like critical care, oncology, or labor and delivery stand out in this market. Networking through Utah Nurses Association events and targeting internal transfer programs at large health systems also moves applications forward faster.
Which companies hire registered nurses in Salt Lake City?
Employers hiring registered nurses in Salt Lake City right now include University of Utah, St. Marks Hospital, and Intermountain Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Salt Lake City's employer mix runs from large academic medical centers and integrated health networks to smaller specialty clinics, rehabilitation facilities, and federally qualified health centers serving the city's growing and diverse population.
Are there remote registered nurse jobs in Salt Lake City?
Yes, though options are limited for hands-on clinical roles and more common for case management, utilization review, telephonic triage, and care coordination positions. About 8% of registered nurse openings tied to Salt Lake City are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the clinical nature of most local postings. Population health and insurance case management roles at Salt Lake City-based health plans represent the strongest remote opportunities in the market.
How can I get a registered nurse job in Salt Lake City with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Salt Lake City is applying directly to new-graduate residency programs at University of Utah Health and Intermountain Health, both of which run structured cohorts that hire BSN graduates with no prior RN experience. Community hospitals in nearby Murray and Taylorsville also post new-grad openings with longer orientation windows. Candidates who completed clinical rotations at Salt Lake City facilities have a meaningful advantage since hiring managers often pull from their own practicum alumni first.
Which industries hire the most registered nurses in Salt Lake City?
Most registered nurse openings in Salt Lake City sit in Education, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Salt Lake City's concentration of academic medical centers, Level I trauma facilities, and a fast-growing outpatient and specialty clinic sector drives consistently high demand for nurses at every experience level throughout the year.
