Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position in Austin, TX, requiring at least 1 year of OR experience and neuro/spine experience.

Details

• Located in the main building, 2nd floor OR suite of an Austin, TX hospital
• 22-OR suite handling a wide range of surgical service lines including cardiac, vascular, neuro, spine, oncology, orthopedics, plastics, urology, and GYN
• Typical procedures include appendectomies, cholecystectomies, spinal fusions, total joints, craniotomies, mastectomies, and DIEP flaps
• Robotic surgery equipment in use
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
• On-call required: 4–5 call shifts and 4–5 late shifts per 6-week period
• Weekend shifts available
• EMR: Meditech
• Not a trauma hospital

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Minimum 1 year of recent OR/surgical nursing experience required
• Neuro/spine experience required
• Cardiac OR experience required for consideration in the cardiac service line
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required

• Candidates with experience across multiple service lines (ortho, neuro, general, robotic) will be given priority consideration
• Scrubs are provided by the facility; closed-toe, non-slip, heeled shoes required
• One full team is maintained in-house at all times, with night shift coverage 24/7
• The unit has a low turnover rate and has successfully transitioned several contract staff to permanent positions
