The Special Projects Manager, Office of the CEO reports to the Chief of Staff and drives CEO-priority projects that are too important to be left to normal staff processes but not yet mature enough to belong cleanly to one business unit.
The role is especially valuable across Voyager's focus areas: defense and space, new partnerships, government strategy, technology roadmaps, capital markets, M&A, and customer positioning. The ideal candidate is analytical, entrepreneurial, and comfortable operating in ambiguity — capable of building a clear decision memo or a compelling strategic deck, and equally capable of getting a stalled initiative moving. It is focused on project execution and opportunity development rather than executive operations.
Essential Functions
- Lead and manage high-priority strategic initiatives directly for the Chief of Staff. Examples include:
Business Growth & Opportunity Development
Identify, shape, and build the case for new business opportunities:
- Proactively scan the market for growth opportunities aligned with Voyager's defense and space strategy
- Qualify and prioritize leads across new programs, partnerships, and adjacent markets
- Build business cases and financial models to support CEO and board-level investment decisions
- Coordinate across finance, strategy, business development, legal, communications, and operations to advance opportunities
- Track and synthesize market signals, competitive dynamics, and customer intelligence relevant to Voyager's growth agenda
Financial Analysis & Decision Support
Serve as an analytical engine for the CEO's office:
- Build and maintain financial models for strategic initiatives, market sizing, and business cases
- Prepare investment memos, scenario analyses, and return frameworks for CEO and board review
- Synthesize complex financial, operational, and market data into crisp executive-level recommendations
- Support capital markets activities, including preparation of materials for investors and financing discussions
- Track financial performance of special projects and surface early indicators of risk or opportunity
Enterprise Problem Solving
- Jump into stalled initiatives, clarify ownership, and build execution plans
- Translate CEO priorities into cross-functional action while building trust and preserving working relationships across the organization
- Help teams get unstuck — diagnose root cause and propose a clear path forward
- Represent the Office of the CEO in cross-functional forums with credibility and discretion

Tips for Your Remote CEO Job Search
Quantify your P&L ownership clearly
CEO candidates who specify the exact revenue they managed, budget they controlled, and headcount they led move faster through screening. Vague language like 'oversaw operations' signals a functional leader, not a chief executive. Replace it with concrete numbers and scope.
Align your resume to board priorities
Boards and search firms hire CEOs to solve a specific problem: a turnaround, a growth push, an IPO, or a succession. Read the job posting for that signal and reframe your summary to show you've solved exactly that problem before.
Target roles one stage ahead of your last
If your last company had fifty employees, target openings at companies with up to two hundred. Jumping straight to Fortune 500 CEO searches without that bridge is a common reason strong candidates get filtered out early by executive search firms.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists ceo openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a verbal board presentation
Final-round CEO interviews almost always include a simulated board presentation or a ninety-day plan walkthrough. Prepare a structured narrative for your first ninety days before your first interview, not after, so you can refine it with each conversation.
Negotiate equity structure, not just cash
CEO compensation at private companies is weighted heavily toward equity. Before any negotiation, understand the fully diluted cap table, vesting schedule, and liquidation preference. Accepting a strong cash offer with weak equity terms is a common mistake at this level.
Remote CEO Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote CEO job?
Target companies that already run distributed teams, since they hire remotely by default and know how to onboard someone they never meet in person. Remote CEO employers screen hard for self-direction and clear written communication on top of the core skills, so show evidence you can own work without someone over your shoulder. Apply to the openings above that match your experience.
Which companies hire remote CEOs?
Companies hiring remote CEOs include FutureSight, ATAX - 19th Ave, and zero, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote-first firms and large companies running distributed teams post the most remote CEO roles.
Can you get a remote CEO job with no experience?
Yes, but it is harder than an on-site role, because remote work expects you to operate independently from the start. Entry-level remote CEO openings do exist, especially at remote-first companies, and a portfolio of real work helps more than a long resume. Applying broadly to the roles that fit improves your odds.
Do you need a degree for remote CEO jobs?
Not always. Many employers hire remote CEOs on demonstrated skills and prior work rather than a specific degree, though some larger companies still prefer one. Showing relevant results matters more than a credential for most remote CEO roles.
Which industries hire the most remote CEOs?
Most remote CEO openings sit in Education, Science & Research, and Agriculture & Farming, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors run distributed teams and hire CEOs remotely most consistently.
