Tips for Your Remote Construction Administrator Job Search
Quantify your submittal and RFI volume
Hiring managers want to see scale. Describe how many submittals you managed per project, how quickly you turned around RFIs, and how many concurrent contracts you administered. Numbers make your experience concrete and comparable to other candidates.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists construction administrator openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Align your resume to the delivery method
Owners, GCs, and design firms each value different CA experience. Call out whether your background is design-side CA, construction management at-risk, or CM-as-agent so hiring managers immediately see the fit for their project delivery model.
Filter openings by contract type handled
Search for postings that name the contract forms you know, whether AIA documents, ConsensusDocs, or owner-developed agreements. Matching your contract experience to the listing signals you can step in without a steep learning curve on documentation.
Prepare a field observation portfolio
Bring two or three project closeout examples to interviews: a punch list you resolved, a nonconforming work log, or a substantial completion package. Concrete artifacts show you understand field-to-contract accountability, not just office coordination.
Negotiate around project phase, not just title
If an offer feels light on compensation, make the case using project phase and complexity. CA work on a phased occupied renovation or a fast-track design-build carries different risk than straightforward new construction, and that distinction supports a stronger ask.
