About the role
As a Lead Org Design & Change Management Consultant, you will be the primary point of contact and strategic advisor leading enterprise customers through deep organizational and technical transformations. We will count on you to focus specifically on redesigning IT operating models—moving infrastructure and operations organizations away from legacy, project-based delivery toward modern, Agile, service-oriented structures. Along the way, you will get to:
- Required Travel: Up to 25-50% travel to customer sites.
- Global Team Leadership & Coaching: Manage, mentor, and direct a distributed team of Change Management Leads and Practitioners across onshore and offshore delivery centers. You must be able and willing to coach junior resources to drive a unified strategy.
- Organizational Design & Team Topology: Lead the deliberate reshaping of client organizations. This includes designing durable, stream-aligned product teams, centralized platform teams, and enabling support functions to match target cloud architectures.
- Management Hierarchy Flattening: Facilitate Agile structural shifts that rely on fewer middle managers. You will provide dignified coaching to reposition existing line managers around strategic delivery while shifting actual domain authority to technical experts.
Be AmbITious: This opportunity is not just about what you do today but also about where you can go tomorrow. When you bring your hunger, heart, and harmony to Insight, your potential will be met with continuous opportunities to upskill, earn promotions, and elevate your career.
What we’re looking for

- Change management certifications (e.g., ProSci, Kotter).
- At least 3-5 years of external consulting experience with advanced relationship management at the C-Suite and executive level.
- Google Cloud Digital Leader AND Google Generative AI Leader certified, or able to complete both within the first 6 months of employment.

We’re legendary for taking care of you, your family and to help you engage with your local community.
But what really sets us apart are our core values of Hunger, Heart, and Harmony, which guide everything we do, from building relationships with teammates, partners, and clients to making a positive impact in our communities.

Tips for Your Remote Design Consultant Job Search
Build a portfolio that explains your process
Remote design employers can't watch you work, so your portfolio has to do that job for them. For each project, show your brief, your decision points, and the outcome. Employers reviewing you asynchronously need context, not just finished screens or renderings.
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote design consultant openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your skills and apply directly without sorting through listings that aren't actually remote.
Demonstrate async communication in writing samples
Remote design consultants spend a significant part of their day writing, not talking. Include a case study or project writeup that shows how you communicate decisions, flag blockers, and align stakeholders through Figma comments, Notion docs, or similar tools.
Target remote-first firms over remote-optional ones
Companies built around distributed work have better tooling, clearer processes, and stronger cultures for remote design consultants. Look for firms that publish asynchronous-first workflows, use collaborative design tools like Figma or Miro as their default, and document decisions in shared spaces.
Remote Design Consultant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote design consultant job?
Target companies with established remote cultures, such as remote-first software firms, distributed agency networks, and large enterprises with distributed design teams. Remote employers screen hard for self-direction, clear written communication, and the ability to run projects asynchronously. A portfolio that documents your process and outcomes, not just final deliverables, gives you a concrete edge over candidates whose work is harder to evaluate at a distance.
Which companies hire remote design consultants?
Employers currently hiring remote design consultants include Closets by Design, Closets by Design Richmond, and NV5, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Remote-first technology companies, distributed creative agencies, and large enterprises with global product teams account for the largest share of open roles.
Can you get a remote design consultant job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level roles are competitive because employers expect you to manage your own workflow from day one without in-person guidance. Remote-first startups and boutique digital agencies are the most likely to hire junior design consultants. A tight portfolio of freelance, volunteer, or academic projects, paired with strong written communication skills, demonstrates you can deliver work independently and are ready for a distributed team.
Do you need a degree for remote design consultant jobs?
Not always. Remote employers prioritize demonstrable skills, a portfolio showing real project outcomes, and evidence you can work without supervision. A relevant degree in design, architecture, UX, or a related field is a common credential, but many hiring teams weigh a strong body of work and client results just as heavily, especially at smaller remote-first firms.
