- Implement secure service communications using cryptographic signatures, key management, and zero-trust architecture principles.
- Operationalize event-driven systems using Apache Kafka and asynchronous messaging patterns.
- Build highly available, strongly consistent, horizontally scalable services.
- Implement robust concurrent and asynchronous processing patterns for multi-threaded workloads.
- Integrate Web3 SDKs and libraries for on-chain interactions, transaction signing, and state monitoring.
- Implement structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, and OpenTelemetry instrumentation.
- Produce and maintain high test coverage via automated unit, integration, and functional testing frameworks within CI/CD pipelines.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, API specifications, and operational runbooks.
Requirements
Must Have:
- 7 or more years of software engineering experience building and operating production-grade backend systems in regulated financial or enterprise environments.
- Experience with blockchain networks, smart contracts, consensus mechanisms, crypto integration, or tokenization platforms.

- Deep expertise in API-first design, RESTful service contracts, and microservices architecture patterns.
- Strong command of concurrent, multi-threaded, and asynchronous programming models.
- Proven track record delivering highly available, strongly consistent, and distributed applications.
- Hands-on experience building event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevSecOps practices, secure SDLC, and automated security controls.
- Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, and observability platforms.
- Strong technical writing skills; demonstrated ability to produce API specs and runbooks.
- Proven experience using Web3 libraries and SDKs (Web3.js, Ethers.js, or equivalent).
Nice to Have:
- Extensive hands-on proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and/or NestJS.
- Direct experience with Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, XRPL, and other distributed ledger technologies.
- Familiarity with MPC (Multi-Party Computation), HSMs, and enterprise key management systems.
- Experience implementing Zero Trust security architecture end-to-end.
- Knowledge of tokenization, stablecoins, settlement systems, and digital asset operations.
- Contributions to open-source blockchain projects or Web3 tooling.
We guarantee:
- International experience in a stable company: the company has offices in Antwerp, Leuven, Lisbon, Krakow, Kyiv, New York and operates on the market for over 15 years.
- Passionate team in an innovative casual, positive, and open work environment ready to meet your new ideas.

Tips for Your Remote Java Software Engineer Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote java software engineer openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your stack and apply directly. Remote postings close fast once a team hits a candidate threshold, so applying early matters.
Build a portfolio employers can read async
Remote hiring managers review your GitHub before a call. Make sure your Java repositories have clear READMEs, documented architecture decisions, and working demos. Self-explanatory code signals that you can communicate without a meeting.
Highlight distributed-team experience in your resume
Call out any remote collaboration tools you have worked with, such as Jira, Confluence, or GitHub Actions, and describe projects where you shipped independently across time zones. Remote employers weight evidence of async execution heavily in initial screening.
Prepare for asynchronous technical interviews
Many remote-first companies screen java software engineers with take-home coding exercises or recorded video responses before a live interview. Practice writing clean, well-commented Java solutions under timed conditions and narrating your reasoning in written form.
Remote Java Software Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote java software engineer job?
Target companies built around distributed teams: remote-first software firms, cloud-native startups, and enterprise tech companies with engineering offices across multiple time zones. Remote employers screen for async communication skills, comfort with written documentation, and the ability to ship independently without daily standups. A strong GitHub portfolio, clear commit history, and experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, or Slack-heavy workflows gives you a real edge.
Which companies hire remote java software engineers?
Companies hiring remote java software engineers right now include Resource Innovations, NinjaOne, and General Dynamics Information Technology, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Roles tend to concentrate at remote-first software companies, distributed fintech and healthtech teams, and large enterprise technology organizations with engineering functions that operate across time zones.
Can you get a remote java software engineer job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level java software engineer roles are harder to land because employers expect you to ramp up with minimal hand-holding from day one. Your clearest paths are open-source contributions, a portfolio of deployed Java projects on GitHub, or contract work through remote freelance platforms. Remote-first startups and small distributed teams are more likely to take a chance on a junior candidate who can demonstrate self-direction and clean code.
Do you need a degree for remote java software engineer jobs?
Not always. Many remote employers care more about what you can build than where you studied. A strong portfolio of Java projects, familiarity with frameworks like Spring Boot, and demonstrated ability to work in distributed codebases can carry more weight than a four-year degree at companies hiring for output over credentials. That said, larger enterprise employers and government contractors often still list a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field as a requirement.
Which industries hire the most remote java software engineers?
Remote java software engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors rely on distributed engineering teams to build and maintain large-scale backend systems, APIs, and cloud infrastructure that do not require engineers to be on-site.
