About the Role:
As the Senior Solutions Engineering Manager, Product Specialists, you will lead a team of category specialists deployed into the deals, evaluations, and product motions where deep domain expertise has the highest impact, improving category attach, lifting win rates, and strengthening technical validation across the field. In this role, you'll be responsible for both people leadership and operating-model design: hiring and coaching high-caliber specialists, defining how the team engages with Account Executives and core Solutions Engineers, building prioritization and intake mechanisms, and ensuring the function is measured on influence and category health rather than sourced pipeline.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and develop a team of Product Specialists aligned to strategic solution categories such as Maintenance, Workforce Management, Cards, and other emerging product areas.
- Define the team charter, engagement model, and handoffs with Account Executives, core Solutions Engineers, Trial Success, Product Marketing, and Product.
- Build a coverage and prioritization model so specialists are deployed into the highest-value opportunities, evaluations, and field needs.
- Coach the team on discovery, demo strategy, objection handling, technical validation, proof-of-concept design, and executive communication.
- Ensure specialists act as multipliers for the field by creating reusable plays, assets, and repeatable category-selling motions, and serve as an escalation point on strategic opportunities where their involvement can materially improve outcomes.
- Establish the operating rhythm for the function — inspecting category performance, specialist utilization, and deal support quality — and partner with Sales Ops and SE leadership to define success metrics, attribution, and performance expectations.
- Partner closely with Product and Product Marketing so the team acts as a high-quality voice of customer and an input to roadmap, positioning, and launch readiness.
- Hire and onboard specialists with deep product, workflow, or industry expertise, and build the team for scale so new categories can be added as products mature.
What We're Looking For:
- 8+ years in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Solution Consulting, Technical Pre-Sales, or a related customer-facing role, including 3+ years of people leadership experience managing senior individual contributors or specialist teams.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; Master's degree a plus.
- A strong Solutions Engineering foundation, including discovery, demo leadership, value-based selling, technical validation, and support of complex multi-stakeholder B2B SaaS sales cycles.
- Strong understanding of value-based selling frameworks such as MEDDIC, MEDDPICC, Command of the Message, or similar, along with SE-specific methodologies like Demo2Win or Great Demo!.
- Experience building or leading overlay teams, specialist seller/SE motions, subject matter expert groups, or other shared-service field functions is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to operate cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Product Marketing, Operations, and Customer Success, with experience designing or improving operating models, engagement rules, prioritization frameworks, and team charters.
- Strong pattern recognition around where specialist intervention creates the most leverage, with the ability to coach teams to balance strategic deal support with scalable field enablement — backed by executive presence and the ability to influence senior stakeholders through data, judgment, and clear communication.
- Comfort working in ambiguity and standing up new functions, processes, and metrics in fast-moving environments; experience with maintenance, workforce management, payments/cards, telematics, asset operations, or adjacent operational technology domains is a plus.
Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is one of Motive's core values. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives.

Tips for Your Remote Solutions Engineering Manager Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote solutions engineering manager openings from across the U.S. in one place. Check it regularly and apply directly to roles that match your seniority and technical domain before postings fill.
Show async communication in your application
Remote solutions engineering manager roles screen heavily on written clarity. Write your cover note and follow-up emails the way you'd run async deal reviews, structured, concise, and free of ambiguity. Remote hiring teams notice the difference immediately.
Document your distributed team leadership
Remote employers want proof you've managed engineers or solutions architects across time zones. Quantify your team size, the geographies you covered, and how you ran stand-ups, deal reviews, and coaching sessions without in-person access.
Prepare demos and technical walkthroughs on video
Remote solutions engineering manager interviews often include a live demo or a recorded walkthrough to test your ability to sell and coach over video. Rehearse screen-sharing, camera presence, and keeping technical depth accessible to non-technical stakeholders.
Remote Solutions Engineering Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote solutions engineering manager job?
Target remote-first SaaS companies and distributed enterprise tech teams, which are the most consistent sources of remote solutions engineering manager openings. Remote employers screen heavily for async written communication, the ability to run discovery and demos over video, and a record of managing distributed individual contributors without daily in-person oversight. Candidates who can show cross-functional influence, strong CRM hygiene, and experience leading teams across time zones stand out most.
Which companies hire remote solutions engineering managers?
Remote solutions engineering manager roles are posted by Cribl, Motive, and Akamai Technologies and others right now, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These tend to be remote-first SaaS firms, cloud platforms, and distributed enterprise technology teams that run pre-sales and post-sales engineering functions without a central office.
Can you get a remote solutions engineering manager job with no experience?
Yes, but remote solutions engineering manager roles are harder to land without experience because you're expected to direct a team and run technical sales cycles independently from day one. Remote-first startups and scale-ups are the most open to promoting strong individual contributors into the manager track. Demonstrating async leadership, a history of closing technical deals, and clear written communication skills can substitute for a formal management title.
Do you need a degree for remote solutions engineering manager jobs?
Not always. Remote employers weigh demonstrated technical depth, pre-sales results, and the ability to manage distributed teams far more heavily than a specific degree for solutions engineering manager roles. A portfolio of closed deals, customer references, and proficiency in tools like Salesforce, Gong, or relevant cloud platforms often carries more weight than formal credentials.
Which industries hire the most remote solutions engineering managers?
Remote solutions engineering manager roles concentrate in Technology & Software and Fintech, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors rely on distributed pre-sales and post-sales engineering teams to support customers and close technical deals without requiring co-located managers.
