Research Intern Jobs in Arkansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a research intern in Arkansas?
Most research intern positions in Arkansas require current enrollment in a college or university program, and the strongest candidates align their major with the host institution's research focus. There is no state-issued license for research interns, so the path runs through academic preparation, faculty recommendations, and institutional applications. The University of Arkansas system, Arkansas State University, and major Little Rock medical centers all post intern openings directly through their departments and career offices.
Which companies hire research interns in Arkansas?
Employers hiring research interns in Arkansas right now include Walmart, CVS Health, and Tyson Foods Incorporated, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Arkansas's concentration of university research centers, federal agricultural stations, and regional medical systems means intern openings recur reliably each semester across scientific, social, and policy research disciplines.
Which Arkansas cities have the most research intern jobs?
The cities with the most research intern openings in Arkansas are Bentonville, Rogers, and Springdale. Little Rock leads because it is home to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, state government agencies, and several major hospital systems, while Fayetteville draws heavily from the University of Arkansas flagship campus and its affiliated research programs, and Jonesboro benefits from Arkansas State University and regional agricultural research activity.
Are there remote research intern jobs in Arkansas?
Yes, but they're rare. About 11% of research intern openings tied to Arkansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which reflects how heavily the role depends on lab work, fieldwork, and on-site data collection. The portions of the role most likely to go remote are literature review, data coding, and report writing tasks that can be completed independently of a physical research site.
How can I get hired as a research intern in Arkansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured undergraduate research programs run by Arkansas universities, since these programs are designed for students with no prior research experience. The University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University both offer faculty-supervised research assistant roles open to first and second-year students. Candidates who have completed even one relevant lab or statistics course and can show a writing sample or course project have a clear edge over applicants with no documentation of analytical work.
