About Technical Assent
Technical Assent is a federal consulting firm that helps government organizations improve services, programs, and mission outcomes through human-centered design, customer experience, research, analytics, and practical implementation support. We work with federal clients to understand customer and employee needs, measure experience, generate actionable insights, and help leaders make evidence-based decisions.
Position Summary
Technical Assent is seeking an Associate Consultant or Consultant to support customer experience, employee experience, and applied research projects for federal clients. This role is ideal for an emerging survey and research professional who can help design, configure, test, field, analyze, and report on survey-based research programs.
The successful candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, comfortable working with data, and able to support multiple workstreams under the direction of senior researchers, project managers, and client leads. This person will help turn research plans and survey instruments into well-executed data collection efforts, clean reporting outputs, and useful insights for clients.
This is a consulting role, so the candidate should be comfortable working directly with federal clients, managing deadlines, contributing to high-quality deliverables, and adapting to the needs of different projects.
Responsibilities
The Associate Consultant / Consultant will support federal CX, EX, and applied research projects by performing responsibilities such as:
- Supporting survey design, question development, survey logic, respondent flow, and instrument refinement under the direction of senior team members.
- Configuring, testing, and maintaining surveys in Qualtrics and other survey or voice-of-customer platforms.
- Building and testing survey logic, skip patterns, display logic, embedded data, contact lists, email distributions, reminders, and data exports.
- Conducting survey quality assurance to verify accuracy, usability, accessibility considerations, data capture, and respondent experience.
- Monitoring survey fielding, response activity, distribution issues, and data quality during active data collection periods.
- Cleaning, organizing, and preparing survey data for analysis and reporting.
- Supporting development of quantitative analysis, descriptive statistics, response summaries, cross-tabulations, trend analysis, and open-ended response review.
- Developing tables, charts, dashboards, and reporting products using Excel, Qualtrics dashboards, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Helping translate data into clear findings, implications, and recommendations for federal clients.
- Supporting client meetings, status updates, project documentation, and deliverable development.
- Coordinating with project managers, researchers, designers, analysts, and client stakeholders to keep work on schedule and aligned with project goals.
- Maintaining documentation for survey instruments, data files, codebooks, dashboards, reporting assumptions, and quality control steps.
- Contributing to a collaborative consulting environment focused on quality, responsiveness, and practical client value.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social science, psychology, sociology, public policy, business, statistics, human-centered design, communications, data analytics, or a related field; other relevant disciplines may be considered.
- At least 2 years of experience supporting survey research, customer research, employee research, market research, program evaluation, customer experience, user research, or related applied research work.
- Hands-on experience configuring surveys in Qualtrics.
- Experience supporting survey design, testing, distribution, fielding, reporting, or data analysis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data review, cleaning, analysis, tables, charts, or reporting.
- Experience creating or supporting dashboards and visual reporting using Qualtrics dashboards, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Understanding of survey research concepts such as sampling, response rates, question wording, skip logic, survey bias, data quality, and respondent experience.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors in survey logic, data exports, charts, reports, and client-facing materials.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work directly with clients in a professional consulting environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and deliverables with guidance from senior team members.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance or security clearance, if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal government consulting projects.
- Experience with customer experience, employee experience, voice-of-customer, or public-sector research programs.
- Experience with Medallia, Alchemer, SurveyMonkey, Forsta, Confirmit, or other survey or VOC platforms.

- Experience reviewing or coding open-ended survey responses.
- Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility, privacy requirements, data protection practices, or FedRAMP environments.
- Familiarity with SPSS, R, Python, SQL, or other statistical/data tools.
- Familiarity with OMB/PRA requirements or federal survey clearance processes.
- Experience preparing codebooks, data files, data dictionaries, or analysis-ready datasets.
Success Profile
A strong candidate for this role is someone who:
- Enjoys building and testing surveys, working with data, and producing polished client-ready outputs.
- Can follow direction while also independently identifying issues, asking good questions, and improving the quality of the work.
- Is comfortable moving between survey platforms, spreadsheets, dashboards, reports, and client communications.
- Understands that small details in survey logic, data exports, and reporting can have a major impact on research quality.
- Wants to grow into a stronger applied researcher, analyst, or customer experience consultant.
